Thomas slept for what felt like minutes, but was actually a couple hours. He eventually started to feel himself stirring awake slowly. He took a deep breath before slowly opening his eyes. When he did open them, he felt a bit of a shock seeing as he was in Newt's room. But then his memory kicked in and he remembered falling asleep in a makeshift bed on Newt's floor. He opened his eyes completely and looked around only to see that.. Newt wasn't in bed.
Thomas slowly sat up, groggily rubbing his eyes free of tiredness. He looked over to Newt's bed and sure enough, he was gone. Thomas then realised that Newt must have woken up before him and gone downstairs. He glanced over at the clock.
6:18 am it read. Thomas' eyes widened a little. Why was Newt up at this time?
He climbed, still slightly sleepily, off the mattress he'd slept on. He then stood up and stretched, a loud yawn escaping him as he did so. After spending the next 30 seconds just standing there, he felt a sudden wave of curiosity and the urge to check on Newt. He slowly crept out of Newt's room and headed down the hall.
He walked down the hall slowly, but stopped when he reached the kitchen archway. He stood there and listened intently for a moment, wondering where Newt was. Suddenly the sound of something clattering sounded out from the kitchen, followed by a quiet curse, confirming that Newt was in fact in the kitchen.
Still standing in the archway, Thomas slowly stepped forward until he had a full view of the kitchen. His eyes immediately went over to Newt who was sitting at the dining table, sipping out of a cup. Suddenly, Newt looked up and met Thomas' eyes. He looked slightly surprised and a bit caught off guard for a second before a look of tiredness crossed his face.
"You're up?" Newt said, his usual snarky tone sounding a little groggy from tiredness. Thomas slowly walked over to the table and took a seat opposite Newt.
"I could say the same to you" he mumbled, still sounding a little groggy himself. Newt was silent for a moment before speaking up again. "Couldn't sleep" he muttered.
Thomas eyed him up for a second. Newt did indeed look pretty tired. His hair was messy and his eyes had a slight dark ring under them. Thomas didn't have to ask any questions to know that Newt hadn't slept much, or maybe even at all.
"What about you?" Newt suddenly spoke up. "Why are you up so early?" he asked. Thomas looked at him for a moment. Newt looked extremely tired but he also looked like he was trying to hide it. Thomas couldn't help but feel a slight pang of sympathy for the exhausted looking boy.
"I dunno" Thomas replied, trying to hide the concern in his voice. "I just woke up" he let out a yawn as he spoke. Newt let out a small hum in response, taking another drink from his cup. Thomas found himself awkwardly drumming his fingers against the table as he watched Newt.
"Sorry I stole your bedroom." He muttered. Awkwardly scratching his head. "Last night was a bit of a weird way to meet eachother.." Thomas chuckled, looking up at newt with curiosity. He wondered if newt lived with Minho, or if he was just staying for a while.
Newt shrugged, silently replying to Thomas' words and implying that it was fine. A small moment of silence passed between the two of them before Newt spoke up again. "Well I hope you slept well in my room at least" he muttered before taking a sip out of his cup again.
"I did, actually-" Thomas started to say, but paused as he suddenly noticed what Newt was drinking out of. "Is that tea you're drinking?" He said, with a tone filled with slight disbelief.
Newt raised an eyebrow and looked at Thomas curiously. "Yeah?" He responded, his voice questioning.
Thomas stared at the British boy in disbelief. "At 6 in the morning? Who the hell drinks tea at 6 in the morning?" He asked, his tone sounding slightly incredulous.
