Back so soon?

My wand gracefully traced across the weathered pages of the book weaving it back together, restoring the book to its former glory. With a gentle flick, the tattered pages danced, finding their home.

Upon witnessing the sorry state of the library's collection, I humbly petitioned Headmaster Dumbledore for a replenishment of fresh tomes. The neglected condition of the others bespoke the former librarian's carelessness.

an angered grunt echoed from the side, I raised my brow to find the man standing afar, his demeanor anything but pleasant. "Back so soon," I joked, attempting to lighten the mood, but his face remained a mask of emotionlessness, his annoyance noticeable, almost directed at me.

"You don't talk much," She observed, putting the book down and tapping her fingers on her desk, awaiting his response.

"I need new copies of Advanced Potion-Making," he stated bluntly, brushing aside yet another attempt at conversation.

"Geez, who stepped on your toes?" she interjected, arching an eyebrow at his demand. "I could've sworn I gave you fresh copies weeks ago," she added, but he simply sighed tiredly.

"It is a matter that does not concern you. Do you have the copies or not?" he retorted plainly, the sourness in his tone catching her off guard.

"Actually," she pushed, remembering she didn't know his name, "Whatever your name is, it does concern me. I have to catalog what goes out of MY library," she emphasized the 'my,' making it clear to him.

"On charts, so if you want the copies, I need a reason," she said, standing as his face twitched lightly.

He sighed reluctantly, clearly offended by her assertiveness.

"Some brainless 5th years knocked a potion over on their copies and burned them," he paused, while the smile of victory formed on her face. "Now, if you'll tend to your job, I'll have my copies," he said, while she nodded happily.

"Yes, I'll have them right out." Her confidence remained unshaken, knowing she had asserted her authority

As she looked for her copies, Severus, on the other side, prowled the aisles, his gaze lingering on the books along the shelves.

"You read any Shakespeare?" she asked, making him turn quickly.

He didn't answer; instead, he took the books and left abruptly.

"You're welcome," I muttered, feeling his presence fade away.

"I guess that's one marked off the friendly list," I said to myself, the encounter leaving a lingering curiosity in its wake
