The two hadn't exchanged a word since term ended. Calliope lay in her cozy cottage nestled along the farmside, her black cat, Mille, trailing behind her through the flourishing garden. As she stepped inside, a startled gasp escaped her lips at the sight of unexpected visitors.

Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall stood in muffled conversation by the hearth, their heads turning as Calliope clutched her robe, her wild curls in disarray.

"I'm... sorry, I didn't expect visitors," she managed awkwardly.

"No need for apologies, my dear," Dumbledore began kindly, "but we do have urgent matters to discuss."

"Of course," Calliope replied, feeling a rush of curiosity and trepidation. "Please, make yourselves comfortable. I'll just... get changed."

she hurried off to her room

I returned in a comfy cardigan, my hair hastily tied into a messy bun, Millie snuggled contentedly on my lap, purring under my gentle strokes. Minerva leaned forward, her inquiry about the Ministry encounter lingering in the air.

"How have you been?" she asked, her tone hinting at deeper conversation.

"I've healed better, thanks to your remedies," I replied, nodding appreciatively towards Minerva.

"Wasn't that s—" Dumbledore began before Minerva subtly nudged his foot, silencing him with a pointed look.

"So, what brings this unexpected visit?" I inquired with a smile.

"Given recent events at the Ministry, they've requested our presence," Dumbledore started, prompting a raise of my brow.

"They've requested you to oversee Hogwarts while we're away," Dumbledore continued, my initial smile faltering as the weight of their proposition sank in.

"You want me... to watch over all of Hogwarts?" I asked, surprised and somewhat daunted by the responsibility they were entrusting to me.

"We'll have others, of course," Minerva interjected reassuringly. "And there's the matter of..."

"Who else?" I pressed, sensing a hesitation between them.

"Well, Professor Snape," Dumbledore finally admitted, their reluctance

noticeable.

"I knew it," I sighed, rolling my eyes at their avoidance.

"I will watch over Hogwarts," I stated firmly, pausing for effect. "On one condition."

They exchanged surprised glances, intrigued by my condition.

"I want to take Millie with me. No one else can care for her like I do," I asserted, my voice leaving no room for negotiation.

"I suppose that could be arranged," Dumbledore conceded with a nod.

"In that case, count me in," I declared, a genuine smile spreading across my face at the thought of having Millie by my side.

I arrived at Hogwarts its warmth kissing my features as I hurried into the library. The familiar scent of old books embraced me, instantly making me feel at home. Millie, my faithful companion, seemed to agree as she let out a happy meow and curled up contentedly against a nearby shelf.

I glanced at the old calendar hanging on the wall, counting down the days until the start of term.

"It's going to be a long wait, Millie, but we'll manage," I reassured her with a smile before heading into my cozy quarters.
