Severus Snape sat in his usual armchair in the living room of the Staff Quarter, his arms folded across his chest, a displeased look on his face. He had gotten into a row with the new librarian, and her presence still made his skin crawl.

Suddenly, the door opened and the librarian herself walked in, her face set in a determined expression. Severus looked up and groaned internally. He really wasn't in the mood to deal with her right now.

I rolled my eyes simply grabbing her coffee and taking a seat "out of sight out of mind "I told myself calming down

Now, as the night filtered through dusty windows, she struggled to focus on reorganizing the shelves.

Outside, the Hogwarts corridors echoed with distant footsteps. Suddenly, a chill ran down Calliope's spine when she realized her short journey wounded her in the Forbidden corridors.

she realized she wasn't alone. The basilisk, unleashed from the depths of the Chamber of Secrets, had struck again, its deadly gaze freezing her in place. Petrified.

Severus's steps banged through the hallway as he approached the infirmary. Dumbledore's stern words still rang in his ears. "I know about the night you forced her out of the quarters," the headmaster had said, his gaze piercing through Severus's defenses.

Severus paused outside the infirmary door; a pang stabbed at him. He found himself hesitating, his hand hovering over the handle. Inside, he could see Calliope lying motionless, her face frozen in fear. he pushed open the door.

Severus handed Madam Pomfrey the vial with the counter-serum, his expression closed and guarded.

"She's fortunate to have survived," said Madam Pomfrey, eyeing Severus with a look of disdain.

Severus's defensiveness flared up. "She should have been more careful," he retorted, his voice sharp. His gaze shifted briefly to Calliope's body lying in silence. Severus's eyes flashed with irritation; his voice laced with bitter sarcasm.

The words spilled out suddenly.

"Well, what did you expect from someone who's just as daft as an elf? Walking around in forbidden corridors in the dead of night. It is Reckless ."

Despite her frozen state, Calliope could still hear every word. Each cutting remark from Snape only fueled her anger and hurt. To the poisonous words Snape uttered without a second thought. Frustration surged through her; she longed to voice her defense, to argue her innocence. Yet, her lips remained sealed shut, bound by the paralyzing curse.

The memory of Dumbledore's warning echoed in Severus's mind, the headmaster's words striking a nerve.

"Words have consequences, Severus," the old wizard had said, his voice stern. Snape clenched his fists, his jaw set in a tense line.

"I know," he muttered to himself, the words slipping out in a defensive tone that hung between acquiescence and stubbornness

In the wait, Minerva summoned Severus for tea—an invitation he reluctantly accepted.

they sipped their tea, Minerva's eyes sparkled mischievously. "I've heard about your recent falling out," she began.

Severus rolled his eyes, his patience wearing thin. "You old meddlers, always sticking your noses where they don't belong."

Minerva chuckled, her smile widening. "Oh, but I do have my sources."

"So tell me, Severus..." Minerva paused, a smile playing on her lips, one that Severus recognized all too well. "Those plates of dinner at her doorstep," she continued, her voice taking on a sharper edge, "what was your motive?"

Severus's eyebrows furrowed deeply. "I have no idea what you are insinuating," he replied tersely, rubbing his temples in frustration.

"I may be meddling, Severus, but I know the truth," Minerva said coolly, her eyes narrowing. "Why did you deliver those plates?"

"It's none of your bloody business," Severus snapped, his patience wearing thin as he turned to storm out of the room.

Minerva watched him go, a small smirk curling her lips as she sipped her tea.

The days stretched on in restless anticipation as the Hogwarts staff waited anxiously for the cure to take effect.
