𝐑𝐄𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄. (𝐋 𝐋𝐀𝐖𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐓)

009; REVEAL.

You're ready to go to To-oh for the start of the school year. You have your book bag, in it lies your regular notebook for sketching (not for actually taking note..), your Omni Note, some pens and pencils, your flip phone, wallet, and your house keys.

Light was already at his gate as you walked out with Hayami in the back, listening to everything. "Morning, Light." You yawned. "Ready?" You went towards him and walked in the direction of the school. "Yup. Are you going to fall asleep in class as usual?" He says playfully. "Yup."

By the time you reached the school, you were already done with the day. But you would be able to see L today; and the opening ceremony would be opened with you, Light and L since you had the highest scores on the entrance exams.

You saw him sitting on the bench in his little crouching form. He looked at you and waved with a little cute smile that you adore. Your heart skipped a beat. You waved slightly, pretending you didn't really know him. "Who are you waving to, (Y/N)?" Light notices your little nonchalant wave. "I don't know, but he waved at me first." You shrug.

"That guy? He's weird." Light comments, looking at his form and outfit and strange...everything. "I like him. He's interesting." Immediately, you compliment him. Light feels pissed. Really? A guy you don't even know the name of? God.

"You don't even know his name." He seemed stern. "Well, still." You said, now passing by him. "Anyways, our speech is today and with him. Ryuga, Ryuga was his name, right? Like the pop idol.."

"Yeah." He's getting dry and irritated. Kira? Losing his cool because his best friend is complimenting a stranger? A male stranger? No way. Not in a million years. "You seem mad. Did I say anything to upset you?" You liked to get straight to the point, and address any issues within your relationships. "....No." He hesitated, but you weren't going to push.

Soon, your speech came to an end and, making Light even more annoyed, Ryuga sat in between you and Light. You could hear whispering from others ━ "I heard the three of them all got perfect scores." "Ah, so that's why there's three this year. What a stretch." "But they seem so different.." "Right? That boy seems like the studious type, the girl seems like she didn't really care much, and the other boy... Well, they're all just plain opposites. The girl seems like a mix of both." 

One, two, three. This was it; when he was going to reveal he was L. "Ryuga." You caught his attention with your sweet voice that drew him towards you. He didn't even realize he was leaning into you. "I know you're L." You whisper. You knew he was going to reveal it himself, but if you knew he was L and you were Kira, you would have killed him already. Only if you have his name ━ however, only you and Kira knew that. Though L had his suspicions... But if you could find out that he was L, then you can definitely find out his name.

There was silence.

"Correct." was all he said before going to, as seen in the show, tell Light of his identity. Light's eyes widened. Was he really? "(Y/N), how did you figure it out? I had an alias. Nobody has ever seen me. Nor heard my voice." He whispers back to you, his breath on your neck with how close he was to your ear. You felt a knot in your stomach.

"I figured you'd be. You were following Light after the entrance exam, even for just a bit, something only I and an FBI agent had done in raised suspicion of him being.. Kira.. And in that agent's ear was L. I knew it had to be, since after I had asked, the connection shut off."

"You're quite intelligent."

You smile, and go silent as you turn your head back to the stage where they were welcoming first years. Light realizes what you two were saying. That Ryuga was L. He didn't hear the part about him possibly being Kira, but still, Light looked so conflicted. Angry at Ryuga for keeping you two apart. And how excited you looked to speak to him — that got to him too. But he has seen L's face now, if the boy was speaking the truth. All that was left is to figure out his name. He was much angrier than glad though.

L was praising (Y/N). Saying things that he should've been the one to say. His best friend. Maybe even more if the time comes... But here comes Ryuga, out of nowhere, to steal her away. He hasn't felt so protective on anything but the Death Note. Was she just as important as it? Yes.

The silence that occurred now between the three was tense. Not that (Y/N) even noticed the way Light glared into the back of his skull. (Y/N) was more focused on the fact that L had revealed it to her first — please let that mean that you're going to help with the investigation. Your fingers were crossed as your arms dangle at your sides, while you bit your lip.

Though you could see the future, you couldn't do it all the time at will. And though you could just control L to let you join, you feel that isn't right, you'd just self insert yourself into it but really do nothing. You want L to make the choice to ask. And maybe, just maybe, give him more attention than any other character. He's probably touch-starved.

Now that the ceremony was over, you wanted to spend a little more time with Ryuga. "Psst." You try to catch his attention. "Ryuga, would you like to go to a cafe nearby? I heard their cakes are good." Still whispering, maybe so that Light wouldn't come with, you ask. "That would be lovely." He says. "Is Light coming along with?" 

You shake your head. You didn't want him to come. Not this time, anyways. You wanted to see if you could earn the trust of L. "Just us two. Is that okay?" You tilt your head, and for some reason, it makes Ryuga feel a knot in his stomach: the same one as you earlier. Except this knot, to him, was like after eating a really good treat and wanting more. 

He nods, and your smile widens. You take his arm and rush out, saying a quick "Goodbye, Light! See you later!" Light stood with his face completely darkened. Really? You're going off with him, and not me? What happened to us?

Ryuk shivers. "You scare me with that expression. What's up with you?" 

He sent a glare to him and scoffed. 

☆ The Omni Note

★ Willingly or not, those with Shinigami eyes from the deal of their lifespan will see a huge aura around the holder of the Omni Note: a glowing aura that is semi transparent. That is how they are able to differenciate between Omni Note owners and Death Note owners.

★ Omni Note holders do not have a life span. They will die the moment they decide they should; which is why Shinigamis who choose humans to give their Omni Notes to have to choose very wisely.
