He still doesn't know why he chose to defend you. Out of impulse, he supposed, but why was it impulse to try and redeem you?

L, taking spoonfuls of cake, observes your features as you sit in the couch in front of his. He had you at a fork point, like in chess, if he were to be the knight, he would be able to take the king, Kira, or the queen, Savia, ━ but instead, he chose to move back. That opportunity he missed just like that, a blunder.

Well, maybe not the king. He still had to gain evidence on Light, after all. And calling (Y/N) his queen didn't seem right. In any case, the analogy is still present. He could have done it, so why didn't he?

Now, he's stuck trying to figure out if you do know who Kira is. The Omni-Note was, well, practically omnipotent, so what held you back from finding Kira, and stopping this mass-genocide that he's committing? He really couldn't understand why.

But that's the case for most things right now. Why did he make a deal with her? Why isn't he reporting her right now? Why can't she just straight-up tell him everything she knows? Why hide things from him? Why isn't she explaining anything to him?

And yeah, for you, you knew it was to prevent the deaths of as many as possible. For him, there was possibilites of many, and yet nothing came to mind.

But yet, the mysteriousness of it all makes him a little..

Lustful.

As if craving an answer from you, knowing he won't get it, and being stuck, for once in his life, on a single message or clue.

Is that normal? No, probably not. Is he normal? No.

"Uh.." He heard you mutter, and immediately, his head cocks up from his lap to you. "Ah, yes, why exactly did you want to spend the night with me, (Y/N)?" Tucking a single strand of his messy hair behind his ears, he asks. You hoped he wouldn't ask, but as the curious boy he is, of course he would.

"Because.. uhm.. we haven't gotten to hang out in a while, outside of case hours. However, I understand how much we'll have to work to find Kira, but, still." You say, and no matter how you viewed it, you'd think you sounded suspicious. To L though, it was exactly what he wanted to hear. "Ah, so nothing new about Kira?" L asks, shuffling files in one hand and eating a cake pop in another.

You shake your head. "No." Obviously, wasn't true, but L really couldn't deny how genuine you seemed to sound. Maybe that's due to the warm feeling building up in his stomach from knowing you plainly just wanted to hang out with him, but honestly, he didn't really care at this point. "Then, what did you want to do?"

He asks, and you're relieved that he didn't push it.

"Er.. Well, I'm fine with anything. We can watch a movie, or━! Wait, let's just have a sleepover! Have you ever had one of those?" You ask, suddenly excited. You hadn't had a sleepover in ages, (ages meaning when you were 5 in your past life,) and you'd kill to have one with him. After all, he's your favorite fictional character, no, being in entirety, ever. You liked him more than you liked your entire life.

"I haven't actually had one before. I believe I do have a book about it somewhere.." He says, munching on his cake pops. He stands up, back still positioned arched forward, and he glazes his hand over a bunch of books on a shelf. He mutters; "sleepovers.. sleepovers..." He says, then grabs a book from the shelf.

"Here it is. We can follow this book's instructions." He opens it up, taking off the dust on the book.

A book. Seriously? You think, but then remember that the man has no social skills whatsoever, other than manipulation and others of the sort for his investigation and detective work. "Okay. What does it say first?"
