Our Perfect Family

When I was small, I watched you, Mom,
You worked so hard, kept us calm.
Dad had flaws, but in my eyes,
Our family was perfect, no lies.

As I grew up, I saw the mess,
Dad brought someone else, I confess.
Not in body, but in heart,
Mom felt betrayed, torn apart.

“Mom, you’re perfect,” I’d always say,
“You’re loyal, loving, every day.”
But then I heard you, late one night,
Calling someone else “love,” it didn’t feel right.

“Mom, why do you say that?” I asked, hurt and confused.
She sighed, “It’s complicated, more than you knew.”

“Dad, did you know?” I wanted to scream,
But it would shatter the family dream.
“Mom, please, make it stop,” I cried,
She just whispered, “I tried, I tried.”

Fake promises, broken hearts,
Our family falling apart.
“Why, Mom, why?” I needed to know,
But answers came, painfully slow.

Now, love seems like a cruel game,
I can't understand it, it feels like shame.
“Mom, Dad, you’ve hurt me so deep,
I cry silent tears, when I try to sleep.”

“I feel betrayed, I don’t know what’s true,
The love I knew is all askew.”
In this mess, I stand alone,
Trying to find a love of my own.

I look at you both, my heart heavy with pain, Hoping to someday trust love again. “Mom, Dad, I love you still, But healing this wound will take all my will.”
