Dad For One

Episode 8 - Flashback

I will be away for a few days and won't be able to post more parts during that time, but I'll be back next week with new episodes.

All Might briefly told Midoriya that he'd be going to pick up Gran Torino, who had agreed to come and see him. Midoriya nodded and smiled. He would be glad to see Gran Torino again.

The war had left Gran Torino seriously injured. While he was still alive and the injuries had mostly healed, he was left unable to walk for long distances. This meant All Might or other individuals had to help him move via a wheelchair if he needed to get somewhere far away. Gran Torino didn't like this arrangement all that much, but they were still waiting for a wheelchair that was designed for him specifically to allow him to move about by himself (his arms are too short to reach the wheels of the wheelchairs that the hospital supplied him).

The day was pleasant, and All Might enjoyed the breeze as he walked to Gran Torino's home. His mind was buzzing with puzzling questions and sporadic thoughts. He could only feel sorry for Midoriya, who must be going through a lot right now. "No matter what happens, I need to make sure I'm there for him," he thought.

Meanwhile, Midoriya was patiently waiting for the results of the most recent tests. Several doctors had come in briefly to check on him, give him water, and have a little chat. "They're all nice here," Midoriya thought to himself. It was a nice hospital in general. Hawks had long since left. He was needed elsewhere but had bid Midoriya a polite farewell.

For a little while, Midoriya looked at his phone, catching up on any news that had been broadcast.

Midoriya was still attached to an IV. He seemed to have lost a lot of blood during the time that he was kidnapped. This made it difficult to move about anyhow and so he was pretty much stuck in the room. Midoriya thought about this for a while and quickly became consumed by his thoughts.

-flashback-

Midoriya had woken briefly during the time he was carried to Dr. Garaki's lab. He had looked up at the nomu. It had large, red, bat-like wings. At the time, he'd been dazed but that quirk kind of reminded him of...

"Tsubasa-san?" He said with slightly slurred speech, having just been brutally whacked over the back of the head.

The nomu had looked at him after becoming aware that he was awake and let out a slight screech-like noise and dropped Midoriya.

-flashback end-

Oh.

Midoriya sat deep in thought for some time after that.
