Seungmin finally came home, his nose was really red and his entire body was freezing because of the cold weather. He thought it's going to be a great idea to make some tea to warm himself up a little, but to his surprise, when he opened the drawer where the tea usually is, it was empty. "Great, now we don't even have tea" the boy said to himself. He started taking out the groceries he bought earlier from his bag, placing them on the kitchen counter.
He got lost in thought for a bit, thinking about what could he make from all these ingredients to make his uncle happy and to, of course fill up his growling stomach.
It was already lunchtime, so he decided to make a bigger dish. Even though he isn't good at cooking, he liked to pretend that he is. But most of the time he didn't know what he was doing.
One time he even messed up making instant noodles.
Seungmin's friends seemed to like reminding him about that a lot.
The boy finally made up his mind about what dish to make, the final choice being two bulgogi rice bowls for him and his uncle.
It took some time, but Seungmin finally finished with his amazing cooking, the result being... actually great. He was really proud of himself about this one. He took his phone out of his pocket and quickly took a photo of the two rice bowls that were gently placed on the dining table.
time skip t0 later that day - 10 pm
Seungmin was sitting on the couch, playing some game on his phone. He looked focused, but the sound of the door opening got his attention. After he found out it was just his uncle entering the house, he got back to playing his game.
His uncle looked tired and exhausted, no wonder why. He was working all day and sometimes even doing night shifts.
Seungmin was debating whether he should ask him about the accident or not, according to his current state. The boy finally made a conclusion, he's gonna let his uncle relax for a bit, eat his food and then ask him.
"Hey, kid". The older man spoke, greeting his nephew. Seungmin in response just waved at him, not saying anything. The boy pointed to the rice bowl on the table that was probably already cold by now, but seungmin's uncle didn't mind much. At least he got something to eat after an exhausting day at work.
The older man quickly devoured his food, not being aware of his surroundings. The only thing he wanted right now was to comfortably lay in his bed and drift off to those peaceful 4 hours of sleep he gets every night. He was feeling surprisingly good now, finally at home with no stupid coworkers bothering him.
Seungmin was just watching his uncle eating his food. He looked pretty uninterested on the outside, but his mind was going crazy right now. He had to think of how to start a conversation with his uncle without it being awkward or without his uncle getting mad at him for "asking too many questions".
He snapped back when he heard his uncle talking to him "wash the dishes, kid." The man's deep voice was echoing through the entire house.
The boy just nodded, letting out a quiet "wait".
His uncle stopped in his tracks, waiting for what his nephew has to say next.
Seungmin continued to speak in a quieter tone than usual "I wanted to ask you about something, well.. it's kind of important, but I get if you're tired and-".
The older man started speaking, causing the younger to shut up immediately "if it's about the accident, I don't want to hear it, you're not ready for that conversation yet".
Seungmin was caught off guard, but he was still trying to get the answers from his uncle "but please, I'm already 17, I'm more than ready for that conversation".
His uncle narrowed his eyes, looking visibly mad. It was just adding up to the annoyed mood he always has at work. All these things combined together made him yell at seungmin "No! You're not ready for that conversation! I know what's best for you and you should and you will listen to me! If I say no it means no. So stop being a dumb little kid and start acting your age!"
Seungmin looked even more surprised than before, he's never seen his uncle act like that. It made him feel a little guilty, but he didn't show it. Instead, he stopped talking like his uncle told him to and went upstairs to his room, looking visibly annoyed by the older man's reaction.
His mind continued to wonder why his uncle was so pissed about the question. It's just a harmless question. It's not weird wanting to know about your parents, right?
The boy threw himself on his bed, he didn't even change to his pyjamas nor took a shower. He just wanted to disappear. He felt like a disappointment to his parents, he felt like a disappointment to his uncle. Everything was just so overwhelming right now.
Seungmin took the blanket and covered himself with it, took out his earphones from the bedside table and put on some music to calm himself down. After some time, he drifted off to sleep.
