Sand looked around the apartment; it suddenly felt so cold, so empty. He was standing in the shower, a Queen song playing on his phone. It was a strange feeling knowing that as soon as he stepped out of the bathroom there would be no Ray waiting for him. The apartment would not be filled with the smell of breakfast, no warm coffee would be waiting for him on the table. There would only be emptiness, Ray had left the night before.
Sand washed his face and brushed the wet streaks of hair out of it. Then he turned off the shower and stepped out of it.

The conversation he and Ray had had a few days ago still hung over him like a dark cloud. Not everything had been resolved between them, of course not, Sand still wondered how it could have been that Ray had pushed his feelings aside to such an extent that he could have chosen Black over him.

Sand looked in the mirror, he looked better, not healthy, but better. His skin was still pale, his cheeks and eyes sunken, but his body felt better, healthier. He brushed his teeth and got dressed.
The feeling of emptiness in the apartment was almost unbearable for Sand. He had gotten used to Ray's presence again in the last few weeks, and now it was as if a hole had been ripped into his life. He went into the kitchen and pulled out some of the previous day's food, warmed himself up, and then sat at the kitchen counter. While eating, he scrolled through his phone.

Team Second Option

sandybitch: Nick...can you come over?

technick: Is everything ok ?

sandybitch: yes...but being home alone feels so weird,
I'm not used to it anymore

technick: I'll come over, I'll be there in 30 minutes xoxo

Sand jumped up from the couch when the doorbell rang. Beaming with joy, he opened the door for Nick and threw his arms around his best friend's neck. "Damn, did I miss you." The two friends sat down together at the open window; this place had now become Sand's favorite place in the apartment. He had put a few pillows there and made the corner comfortable.

"How are you doing?" Nick took a sip of his coffee and looked at his friend, smiling. He had been relieved when Ray had called him and told Nick that they could stop the home rehab.

"I don't know, empty? Drained? My body is feeling fantastic, and I don't have any cravings for the drugs anymore. But my mental health is not good. I think it's a wonderful idea to find a therapist." Sand took a drag from his cigarette.

"I also think it's a good idea. I'm currently looking for a therapist as well, because I think that even if you don't have any major acute problems, it can't hurt to at least talk to someone like a therapist once in a while. I'm also trying to persuade Boston because I want to work through some things that happened between us. But luckily there's no rush, I'm glad that our stay in the USA has really changed him in that respect, for the better." Sand looked at Nick and thought how happy he was that he and Boston now had such a healthy relationship. He begrudged Nick with all his heart and wished him nothing but the best.

"Ray and I want to go to therapy together as well." Nick spit the coffee he had just had in his mouth full pot into Sand's face.

"What the fuck, Nick?" Sand cursed and wiped his face clean with his shirt. He took off his shirt and stood up. "I'll be right back." Nick looked at Sand in surprise, but then got up and got a rag from the kitchen to wipe the coffee off the floor.

"You and Ray want to do therapy together?" Nick repeated Sand's statement as if Sand had revealed to him that he was the King of Atlantis.

"We want to at least try." Sand lit a cigarette. "Not as a couple, not even as friends, just so we can come to terms with our entire past. There are a lot of things that we have to work through if we want to treat each other like equals and without festering grudges." Nick listened carefully to Sand as Sand told him about the conversation with Ray, how they had apologized to each other, spoken out.
