Black knocked on Ray's door, out of breath, panic written all over his face. "Please, please open," he whispered, almost like a mantra, hoping he could summon his best friend. "Dammit, Ray please..." He looked behind him in a panic, as if he had someone following him.

"What the fuck is it, why are you knocking so much?" Ray threw open the door. Black pushed past Ray and stumbled into the room.

"Close it," he said, in a rushed manner. "Close the damn door and lock it. Please..." Black desperately tore his hair. Ray closed the door in confusion and turned the key. His best friend breathed a sigh of relief.

"What the hell happened?" Ray asked.

"What's going on here?" Sand asked, who had just come out of the bathroom.

"Black just wanted to elaborate on that, right?" Ray sat on his windowsill and cocked his head at Black. "So?"

"Tod..." Black replied, out of breath. "He's following me..." Sand and Ray had the same surprised expression.

"Tod, is he hunting you?" They asked as one.

"I just said that, didn't I?" Black took a deep breath. He looked at the door in fear.

"What happened?" Sand asked, tilting his head.

"I um..." Black was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"I know you're in there, Black. Get out of there." Another knock thundered through the door. "Black, damn it come out."

"You see. He followed me." Black's voice sounded fearful.

"We'll sort it out." Sand took Ray's hand and pulled him along. "You stay here, do you understand?" Black swallowed and nodded, he was a little scared for his friends but relieved that he didn't have to go through the situation alone.

Sand ripped the door open, pulling Ray into the hallway with him.

"What do you want?" Ray had closed the door behind them and was now standing, with Sand, in front of this Tod guy.

"I'm Tod, nice to meet you," Ray eyed the guy standing in front of him up and down.

"I'm not entirely sure if I think it's nice to meet you," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. Tod raised an eyebrow.

"I'm here on a friendly mission, don't worry." He grinned, and his gaze fell on Sand, who stood behind Ray. "Oh, and you are?"

"None of your business," replied Sand, who had absolutely no interest in this guy. "Why are you here, Black wants nothing to do with you. And I don't think you're here on a so-called friendly mission."

"Oh," surprise flashed across Tod's face. "Is that what he said? I'm afraid I can't for the life of me imagine that, when two days ago he was sucking my dick so well..." A fist hit Tod right in the face, Sand's fist.

"Don't talk about him like that. Fucking piece of shit," Sand hissed, shaking his hand, which hurt more than he thought. "Now fuck off."

"And if I don't want to 'fuck off'?" Tod looked at the two of them with a grin.

"Then I'll call the police and get a restraining order against you. I have the right to get you off my property, and if you don't want to be forcibly removed, you should fuck off." Ray's gaze was cold and angry, he hated that he had to deal with this shit.

"Booo, you love taking the fun out of things, huh, Ray?" Tod bent down to Ray's eye level and tilted his head. He grinned. "Tell Black I miss him, yeah? And I'm waiting for his answer." He tapped his temple with a finger, "See ya."

Confused, Ray and Sand looked after the strange guy and shook their heads.

"So, what's the deal between Tod and you?" Ray turned to Black, as he and Sand had gone back in the Room. Black fidgeted with his fingers.

"We are fuck buddies...who hate each other. It's hard to explain..." He ran his hand through his hair. "I've been beaten up, kidnapped, and almost murdered by his people, and yet I can't let him go. It's like we're tied together, cursed to chase each other in this hamster wheel until one of us gives up from exhaustion."

"That sucks." Ray lit a cigarette and sat on the window ledge. "What a fucked up situation. Why are you letting this happen to you?" Black shrugged his shoulders."

"Love, I guess... I have no idea." He sighed. "I know it has to end, I'm probably just not ready for it yet."

"What do you think about the situation with Black and Tod?" Sand turned to Ray as they sat together by the pool at the Only Friends Stay that evening.

"I don't know it. "It's not my place to judge anyway." Ray rubbed his temples. "I just want him to be happy. And don't slip into anything bad again." He lit a cigarette. "But it seems like he's already knee-deep in that shit."

"Is everything okay? Do you need anything? You look like you need a hug or something," Sand asked, concern evident in his voice.

"Of course, it's affecting me, there's nothing I can do but watch my friend destroy himself and get stuck in a beyond-toxic relationship."

"I guess you can't call it a relationship," Sand murmured, leaning back on the lounger. Ray nodded in agreement.

"I guess you're right," he sighed. "Fucked up situation anyway." Ray sat on the ground next to Sand, leaning his head against the other, looking up at the sky. He had a cigarette between his lips and was inhaling the smoke. Sand started playing with Ray's hair. He loved that the other one had grown out his hair, it was great for keeping his fingers busy. And Ray on the other hand enjoyed it when Sand played with them. Ray enjoyed the closeness between them, it was as if they were slowly but surely crossing the line between friendship and love again.

"I would love to be with you forever, like I am right now." Sand puffed on his cigarette. "Everything is so peaceful, quiet right now. I want time to stand still and the earth to stop turning."

"You would be stuck with me forever," Ray smirked.

"Doesn't sound too bad, honestly." Sand replied with a gentle tone to his voice.

"Are you serious about it?" Ray's eyes were closed, and he enjoyed the feeling of sand sliding over his head.

"I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it, Ray," Sand's gaze shifted to Ray. He took in all the beautiful features of the other and felt butterflies lining his stomach. It all felt so new, not like the last few times. The feeling Sand felt within himself was not an obsession like it had been between them years ago, nor was it the feeling of an inexplicable attraction to the other person. It was infatuation, a tingling sensation throughout his body, and the desire to be near Ray, just to be in his presence.

"Sand, do you think we have another chance?" Ray didn't dare open his eyes when he asked the question. His heart was racing, he wasn't sure if he even wanted to know the answer. Sand's gaze softened, and a slight smile formed on his lips.

"I don't know, Trouble. The future has to decide that, but I will kick the future in the ass if it puts unnecessary obstacles in our way again." He ruffled Ray's hair. "But you can believe me that one thing, you won't get rid of me that quickly, do you understand?"

"Believe me, I don't want to get rid of you."
