Sand was nervous, truly nervous, he didn't know if he had ever been this nervous in his life before. He looked at himself in the mirror, brushing a strand of hair from his face. He and Ray wanted to go on a date, a real date, with dinner and a movie night, like other couples probably did before they officially decided to get together.
He and Ray had decided to try out this dating thing to get closer without needing a fixed label. Ray had thought up today's date, Sand was pretty excited about it because the other guy hadn't wanted to tell him what he had planned for him, even though he begged.A ringing at the door brought Sand out of his thoughts; he took another look in the mirror before opening the door to his apartment.
"Hey," a smile spread across Sand's face as he saw him standing before him. He pressed a sunflower into his hand.
"Here, I thought I'd bring you some sunshine." Ray scratched his head in embarrassment.
"Thank you. I've never gotten flowers before." Sand brushed across the sunflower reverently. "Come in, I'll put these in water first. Do you want something to drink?" Ray nodded.
"A water would be great." Sand made his way to the kitchen and, after putting the sunflower in water, brought Ray a glass of water to drink. Only then did he notice the other man's new haircut.
"Ray you..." Sand couldn't continue speaking, he felt as if he had been run over.
"Do you like it?" Ray ran a hand through his hair.
"You look like the day I first saw you." Sand reached out his hand and gently rubbed Ray's head. "I like that haircut on you." He smiled gently at Ray. He put his glass on the table and stood up. He placed a hand on Sand's cheek and rose slightly on his tiptoes before pressing his lips to Sand's. It was a short, almost shy kiss.
"I'm glad you like it." Ray smiled softly at Sand. "Are you ready?" Sand nodded.
"Almost, I still need my bag and jacket, will you wait here for a moment?"
"Where are you taking me?" Sand giggled; he had to promise Ray that he would keep his eyes closed.
"Don't worry, you'll like it, okay?" Ray had intertwined his hand with Sand's. "Stand still." Ray gently released his from the sand. He gently rubbed Sand's back with his hand. "You can open your eyes." Sand did as he was told, he opened his eyes and stared at the red car in front of him. "Surprise." Ray grinned widely. "I figured, now that I can take you out on dates, it would be appropriate if I buy a new car." Sand couldn't help but grin, too. The joy that Ray seemed to have spread to him.
"It's such a nice car." Sand looked at the vehicle in amazement. "And you're taking me with you in it? Where?" An attempt to lure Ray out of what kind of date he could prepare for.
"I won't tell you." Ray opened the door. "Take a seat. And just go for the adventure, okay?"
Ray had planned the day wonderfully, first, he drove with Sand to a restaurant, Freddy Mercury Themed, to have a little something to eat with him. Sand was thrilled with the restaurant, not just the food, but the theme, and most of all, that Ray had paid attention to these little details. He then drove with sand to a museum that was currently showing an exhibition with various musicians from rock history.
"Ray, you're spoiling me." Sand hugged the other from behind as they stood together in front of a photograph of Freddy Mercury.
"Isn't that what dating is for?" Sand snuggled up to the other man, put his head on his shoulder, and kissed Ray on the cheek.
"You're right." Sand murmured and closed his eyes briefly, enjoying this brief moment between them.
"But we're not done yet." Sand gently separated himself from Ray and turned him towards him so that they looked into each other's eyes.
