Pandora was in a foul mood when her name was called out indicating her beverage was ready. She had her hand protectively over the ready to pop looking baby bump. Truthfully she had almost two months to go until her due date. The other hand tightly grasped around her made to order, over priced coffee cup. Pandora would never, ever admit to anyone how unnerved she had become because of the phone call from her mother. Angry that her hand had acted on its own to answer the call. Pregnancy hormones and nothing more she told herself.
Bee was exceptionally good at noticing people. Pandora had a large, ugly scar that drew attention first. What could have happened to mark up such a pretty woman? But then, Bee was even more interested. She had a knack for noticing those who were actively struggling. Like she had a radar built into her brain to know the moment someone was at their weakest. Bee was very good at listening and watching, and hoarding what she learned. She Had heard Gisella complain about the Greenrivers family and how untouchable Tuesday would be with her mates and their combined family and pack resources keeping her safe now.
Bee was currently feeling almost giddy at the thought of being able to tell Gisella where her damn beloved Tuesday was heading. Gisella never quit talking about the strength Tuesday had. Lamenting that no matter how hard Bee worked, no matter the number of new pledges brought in; fucking Tuesday was still better in Gisella's memory.
Bee was not stupid. Gisella looked younger and better every time Bee recruited a new member to their cause. Clamping on the permanent ear cuff herself dozens of times now. The recruits all willingly sat and waited for Bee to seal their fate. All for the promise of a place to sleep and food available. Many happy to work in the various enterprises Gisella had quickly got up and running. The magic boutique and a coffee shop acting as the legitimate front. With a workhouse hidden behind where one way or another every single girl was made to earn her keep.
Bee followed the unhappy mother to be and likely Greenrivers sibling through several very mundane errands. Ending with watching from a bus stop as a young boy was picked up from a crowded daycare play yard. From a safe distance, Bee followed her all the way back to a Black Corporation owned apartment building.
Watching from another bus stop just up the street as the mother and child used security cards to get in the guarded front door. Bee waited for the actual bus for this route to come by, boarding and getting off just a few stops down. Heading back towards Gisella's base giving any Black Corporation building a wide berth. Trying to avoid being captured lurking anywhere she should not be on camera.
When Bee finally arrived at the compound, the beginnings of a plan already forming in her head for how she could try and worm her way into the Greenrivers sister's orbit in order to get close enough to Tuesday and drag her back; Bee was surprised to see Gisella was already in a near buoyant mood.
Gisella was positively preening over a girl Bee did not recognise. Sunday and November were cowering as far away as possible from the new recruit in the common room. Those two had been broken long before Bee had arrived. Had almost run out of ways to make themselves useful in Bee's estimation. They were at least good at keeping the living area clean and cooking meals large enough to feed the recruits in the compound Bee and Gisella were working so hard to build up.
None of the recruits Bee had managed to lure into Gisella's compound had any skills for homemaking or cooking. Street kids rarely enjoyed hot food, let alone had skills as complicated as using an actual oven or stove to feed a group. Sunday at least had a particular talent for making large meals from nothing. Strict christian upbringings were good for something at least.
New recruits were milling at the edges of the room, avoiding the center. Bee was fearless. Gisella had chosen Bee. Had picked her from the lineup and paid to save her and give her a new life. Bee was wanted. She told herself as she walked directly to Gisella and the woman captivating Gisella's attention.
