Pandora's hand slapped down on her phone to stop the morning alarm signalling her reprieve in dreams was over. Tom came in and placed little Chuck on the bed, kissing Pandora on her cheek. "Good morning beautiful." Tom bid his mate and love of his life, still able to see the good in her. Ignoring how she flinched when he told her she was beautiful. Just as she did every single morning, and every single time he said the words.
Sighing, mumbling under her breath between clenched teeth that she loved him too. "Chuck's all set and his bag is ready for daycare." Tom told Pandora as she slowly rose from the bed, moving to the nearby dresser to get dressed.
Putting on expensive brand name pants, and a blouse that was nearly as much as rent on their subsidised apartment in The Black Corporation apartment tower. Not that they actually paid for their apartment themselves. Pandora might not speak to any of her family, it was still the Greenriver's limitless accounts that paid for almost everything in their lives.
Tom had a job as an accounting assistant in the corporate investments division of The Black Corporation. It wasn't glamorous, nor would it earn him a fortune, but if he worked hard and worked his way up, he hoped to one day be able to provide a comfortable life for Pandora and their children. Without the guilt of living on her parents wealth.
Dressed Pandora struggled to pick up Chuck and move him to play with some blocks on a blanket next to the small washroom of their apartment while she continued to get herself ready to head out.
Technically, Pandora was supposed to be looking for work, or education opportunities, or any interest beyond and larger than just herself. Instead she got herself ready after Tom rose with Chuck, changed, cleaned and fed their baby before heading to work. Dropped Chuck at his daycare and then she wandered aimlessly through the city. Eating what she wanted, buying what she wanted. Living aimlessly and without purpose.
Pandora was a perfect target for Bee. Unhappy, unsatisfied, and full of jealousy and misplaced anger. Bee had been waiting outside the apartment building, ready to follow. The new silver band around her wrist, never warmed up. Was constantly cold against her skin. It felt wrong. It scared Bee, made her desperate to ensure she could meet the two day deadline. November's dead eyes haunting Bee everything she closed her eyes. Like it was Bee's fault November had died.
When Pandora stopped for lunch, Bee made her first move. Feigning like she accidentally brushed against Pandora's latest shopping bag, knocking it over to spill the contents onto the floor. Bee was over acting as she apologised almost before the bag had hit the ground. Rushing to gather the assortment of baby items and clothes back into the bag.
Pandora had first burned hot with anger that someone had been so careless, then she had quickly found herself enjoying having the stranger begging to be forgiven apologising so profusely most would had seen that it was too much. Too dramatic to be believed.
Pandora found the strangers behaviour to be her just due. "No harm, thank you for helping to pick it all back up." Pandora dramatic ran her hand over her very rounded belly. Desperately hoping for a girl this time.
Bee demurred, looking towards the ground. Apologising one last time. Before scampering away. Hiding out of sight. Meeting one, accomplished. The next meeting would need to be more careful. A more select moment, there would need to be an incident. Bee's mind was working harder than a virgin stage director before their debut. Bee had goals to hit and a tight timeline. She would prove herself to Gisella.
After lunch, Bee continued to follow Pandora from a distance as she wasted time and money during the entire day. Lucky or unlucky, Bee got a surprise helping hand from the universe. Bee had followed Pandora into a shoe store. Pandora's mood turned more sour as the shoes she wanted weren't available in her size, and when she did find a shoe available in her size, she was shocked to find that her feet had either grown or were too swollen from pregnancy to get the shoes on right now.
