.Two days later, New finally felt ready to return to school. He woke up with a renewed sense of energy, the weight of his recent illness lifting. Tay had been reluctant but had ultimately agreed, albeit with a long list of precautions. He made New promise to take it easy and not to overexert himself.
As New prepared for school, Tay fussed over him, ensuring he had everything he needed. "Remember, if you start feeling unwell, call me immediately," Tay instructed, his eyes filled with concern.
New smiled, touched by Tay’s worry. "I will, promise. I’ll be fine."
The school grounds felt familiar and welcoming as New arrived. His classmates greeted him warmly, expressing relief and happiness to see him back. Among them was his close friend, Nunew, whose face lit up the moment he saw New.
"New! You’re back!" Nunew exclaimed, rushing over to give him a gentle hug. "How are you feeling?"
"I’m doing much better," New replied, returning the hug. "Thanks to you and your fiancé for taking me to the hospital. I don’t know what I would have done without you."
Nunew waved off his thanks, but his eyes shone with sincerity. "We were just glad we could help. You gave us quite a scare."
New’s mind flashed back to the day he fell ill, the memories hazy but still vivid enough to bring a shiver. He remembered feeling weak, unable to stay awake, and then being rushed to the hospital. Nunew and his fiancé had acted quickly, their quick thinking possibly saving his life.
"Seriously, Nunew, I can’t thank you enough," New said, his voice filled with gratitude. "You were there when I needed you the most."
Nunew smiled, a mixture of relief and affection in his eyes. "That’s what friends are for. I’m just glad to see you up and about."
As they walked to their first class together, New couldn’t help but reflect on the support system he had. Tay’s unwavering love and care had been his anchor during his illness, and his friends had stepped in when he needed them most. It was a reminder of how fortunate he was to be surrounded by such caring people.
During a break between classes, Nunew and New sat outside, enjoying the fresh air. Nunew’s fiancé joined them, greeting New with a warm smile. "Good to see you looking better, New," he said, offering him a bottle of water.
"Thanks," New replied, taking the bottle gratefully. "I feel a lot better. Tay has been taking amazing care of me."
Nunew’s fiancé nodded, his expression thoughtful. "It’s clear how much he loves you. You’re lucky to have each other."
New couldn’t agree more. The past few weeks had been challenging, but they had also brought a deeper understanding of the love and commitment he shared with Tay. Every moment of care, every word of comfort, had shown New just how much he was cherished.
As the day progressed, New took it slow, mindful of Tay’s concerns. He participated in classes but allowed himself to rest when needed. His friends kept a watchful eye on him, ready to step in if he showed any signs of fatigue.
By the time the school day ended, New felt tired but accomplished. He had made it through his first day back, and the support of his friends had made it easier. As he walked home, he felt a sense of gratitude wash over him.
When New arrived home, Tay was waiting, his eyes lighting up with relief as he saw New. "How was your day?" Tay asked, pulling him into a hug.
"It was good," New replied, resting his head against Tay’s shoulder. "I took it easy, just like you said."
