The sun was barely up, but Tay had been awake for hours, lying in bed beside New, watching his husband sleep. His heart ached with guilt, regret, and love all at once. The events of the past few weeks haunted him—the way New had been mistreated, bullied, and hurt right under his nose. Tay had never imagined his own office would be a place of pain for New, his precious, gentle husband. He wiped a stray tear from his cheek, trying not to make a sound as he watched New, who was wrapped around him, sleeping peacefully.

New’s health had taken a toll since the bullying came to light. He was still recovering from the stress and the trauma, and Tay had insisted they both take a day off from work. They needed time together—time to heal, time to reconnect.

Tay leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to New’s forehead, his lips lingering there for a moment. He felt his heart swell with love as he looked at New, who slowly began to stir awake. His eyes fluttered open, and a sleepy smile appeared on his face as he saw Tay.

“Morning,” New whispered, his voice hoarse but sweet.

“Morning, love,” Tay replied softly, running his fingers through New’s messy hair. “How are you feeling?”

“A little better,” New admitted, though he still looked exhausted. “But I think you stayed up all night again.”

Tay gave him a weak smile, unable to deny it. “I just… I couldn’t stop thinking about everything. About you. I hate that you were hurt, New. I hate that you went through all of that alone.”

New’s eyes softened, and he reached up to touch Tay’s face, gently brushing away a tear that had escaped. “It wasn’t your fault, Tay. I didn’t tell you. I should have told you sooner.”

Tay shook his head, his voice trembling with emotion. “No, it *was* my fault. I should have seen it. I should have noticed that something was wrong. You were hurting, and I didn’t protect you like I promised I would.”

Tay sat up, pulling New into his arms, holding him close. The guilt weighed heavily on his chest, and he couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. He pressed his face into New’s shoulder, his body shaking with quiet sobs. “I’m so sorry, New. I’m so, so sorry,” he whispered, his voice breaking.

New, startled by the depth of Tay’s emotion, felt his own heart shatter. He had never seen Tay cry like this. The strong, protective man who always kept everything under control was falling apart, and it was because of him. New’s chest tightened with guilt as tears began to spill from his own eyes.

“Tay, no… please don’t cry,” New whispered, hugging him tightly. “It’s not your fault. It’s mine. I should have told you sooner. I didn’t want to burden you, but now… now you’re blaming yourself.”

Tay pulled back slightly, cupping New’s face in his hands, his thumbs wiping away New’s tears. “You’re not a burden, New. Never. Don’t ever think that. I just wish I could have stopped them before they hurt you.”

New shook his head, his tears falling faster. “But you did, Tay. You protected me. You stood up for me. You made sure those people will never hurt me again. That’s all that matters now.”

Tay gazed at New, his heart aching with love. Even after everything, New was still so forgiving, so kind. He didn’t deserve someone like New—someone so pure, so selfless. He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to New’s lips, and when he pulled back, his voice was hoarse with emotion.

“I love you, New. More than anything in this world. I would give up everything just to make sure you’re safe and happy. Please, just… forgive me for not being there sooner.”

New looked into Tay’s eyes, his heart swelling with love and sadness. He could feel the depth of Tay’s sincerity, and it broke him to see Tay in so much pain. He leaned in, kissing Tay gently, then rested his forehead against Tay’s.

“I love you, too, Tay. And there’s nothing to forgive. We’re okay now. That’s all that matters.”

Tay didn’t want to leave New’s side all day. After spending the morning in bed, talking, crying, and apologizing, Tay insisted on taking care of New. He carried him to the kitchen, where he prepared breakfast—New’s favorite dish. The smell of freshly cooked food filled the air, and despite everything, New found himself smiling as he watched Tay move around the kitchen, his love and devotion clear in every action.

They spent the rest of the day curled up together on the couch, watching movies and talking softly. Tay kept stealing glances at New, checking to make sure he was okay. Every time he saw the smallest hint of a smile on New’s face, it made his heart swell with relief.

As the day turned to night, Tay found himself unable to stop telling New how much he loved him. He kissed New’s forehead, his cheeks, his lips, whispering over and over again how grateful he was to have him in his life. He apologized more times than he could count, but New always shook his head, telling Tay that there was nothing to apologize for.

At some point, Tay couldn’t hold back his emotions any longer. “I should have known, New,” he said quietly, tears welling in his eyes again. “I should have been there to protect you. The thought of you being bullied and hurt like that… it kills me.”

New, his own eyes brimming with tears, pulled Tay into a tight embrace. “Tay, stop blaming yourself. You did everything you could when you found out. You made things right. Please… don’t carry this guilt anymore. We’re both okay now.”

Tay held New close, his tears mingling with New’s. “I just love you so much,” he whispered, his voice trembling. “I can’t bear the thought of you being hurt.”

New pressed a soft kiss to Tay’s cheek, his heart aching with love. “I know, Tay. I know. And I love you, too. More than anything.”

---

That night, as they lay in bed, wrapped in each other’s arms, Tay and New both felt the weight of the past few weeks slowly lift from their shoulders. They had cried, they had apologized, and now, they were ready to move forward together.

Tay kissed New softly, his lips lingering on New’s for a moment before pulling back to look into his eyes. “I’m never letting anything happen to you again,” Tay whispered, his voice full of love and determination.

New smiled, wiping away the last of his tears. “I know. I feel safe with you, Tay. I always will.”

They kissed again, slowly, tenderly, and as the night went on, their kisses grew more passionate, their love for each other pouring out in every touch, every whispered word of affection.

It was a night of healing, a night where they both let go of the guilt and pain that had weighed them down. In each other’s arms, they found comfort, love, and the strength to move forward.

As they drifted off to sleep, Tay held New close, his heart full of love and gratitude. No matter what challenges they faced, he knew that as long as they had each other, they could get through anything.

And for the first time in weeks, Tay slept peacefully, knowing that his beautiful, precious husband was safe in his arms, right where he belonged.
