"Gracey."

I swear I'm not going to reply to this one. What time is it anyway? Last time I checked, it was fourteen o'clock at night.

"Okay fine. I'm not calling you that. Stop crying, now." He awkwardly handed me a handkerchief.

His eyes were red too, as though he were—

Crying.

But why would he cry? I mean, aren't I the one who's going to be dead? I scrutinized his face, trying to understand what was going on. His red eyes seemed to hold a deep sorrow, as if he were carrying a weight that was crushing him.

"Wanna come somewhere with me?" He asked, putting an assuring smile on his face.

Didn't he already return from'somewhere' some time ago?

"No." I was quick to answer.

"Okay fine. Then keep sobbing, but sobbing won't change what's going to happen." He said.

"Not sobbing isn't changing anything either; then why hold back the tears?" I retorted.

He paused for a second, taking in my words as though agreeing with me internally; his eyes crossed mine with understanding. But this demeanor was short-lived. He stared at me from the corner of his now dramatically narrowed eyes.

"Alright. Alright. Sob then, and thanks for ruining my hankey."

Okay, that was unexpected.

But it was Justin.

I hesitated, unsure of what to say.

"Are you.." I started. I didn't mean to blank out, but I couldn't help it. Blame the way his eyes stared into mine. After a long pause, I finished my sentence, "—okay?"

"What?" His eyebrows knitted in confusion.

"Are you okay?" I blurted out quickly, bringing myself back to Earth.

Or whatever..

Back to Nexus.

"Obviously, you're the one bawling your eyes out." He pointed unnecessarily.

I didn't bother to inquire more because I wasn't interested in knowing any other petty thing he was going to lie about that he was allergic to.

"Well, excuse me for mourning over my foreseeable death." I scoffed, making him laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"You being sarcastic."

"It's fucking real. I'm dying; every day I die a little." He clearly knew what I was talking about. Guilt flashed in his eyes. "I'm sorry, I was just trying to lighten up your mood."
