EPISODE 8 : WORST IN THE EAST
( Not A Lot, Just Forever )

ALL GOOD THINGS must come to an end. The lively music dies into a mellow scenery of muted browns and burnt earth, and Estrella and Zoro decide that they much prefer the warmth of the large bonfire to the cold tree roots.

The villager cheers as Usopp, with his glittery eyes and flashy smile, announces the end of his story. A look of unbridled joy creases the gaps between his cheeks with soft, gentle lines.

Just then, the unmistakable rasp of intruders fills the air with hostility, and the claps cease to make way for the booming voice that announces their arrival.

"Marines!" Someone in the distance yells, and the sound of marching grows closer. "Form lines!"

Estrella, almost like a mutt that has run away from its owner, bares her teeth in a snarl and takes a step back, her hand heavy against her scabbard.

Zoro does the same, positioning himself to face the oncoming foes.

From the corner of her eyes, Estrella watches as Luffy's bright smile falls into something shocking and hesitant.

"I'd rethink that if I were you." A man wearing a grey and black gentleman's hat scoffs, staring down Zoro and Estrella, whose weapons are halfway out of their sheaths.

The hoard of marines surrounds them, and Estrella feels her jaw clench when she spots the white-haired man leading them.

Vice Admiral Garp of the Marines eyes the group with disinterest. His eyes linger on his curly-haired grandson, whose lips are pulled into a frown.

"So these are the Straw Hat Pirates." Garp muses, his beard bristling. "Huh."

The crew shuffles closer together, forming a small circle as they glare indignantly at the high-ranking official.

"Marines," He announces, not even bothering to unclasp his hands from behind his back. "Arrest them."

From behind the tall and intimidating man, a familiar meek boy with a shock of pale pink hair pipes up timidly.

"Sur, the Straw Hats didn't destroy Coco Village. It was Arlong." Koby reminds them, but his efforts are futile.

Garp is not in his right mind. He is not there are Vice Admiral Garp but as Luffy's grandfather.

"You have your orders, cadet." He spares the scrawny boy an outward glance.

In a feat of resilience, Koby steps in his path, thick round glasses sliding a few centimeters down his nose. His irises tremble, but he holds his body still, looking into his superior's eyes.
