EPISODE 05 : EAT AT BARATIE! ( Fit For A King )
EYES HARDENED WITH annoyance, Estrella directs her burning glare towards her captain, face taut, lips pressed together, and eyebrows pinched.
"Did you just call that guy Grandpa?" Zoro says through clenched teeth, an expression mirroring Estrella's on his face.
Luffy ignores the baffled demands for an explanation on his part, one eye peering through the spyglass at the fleet of oncoming Marine ships.
Even from the distance, Estrella could make out the intimidating grey metal and black sails, adorned by the heavy figurehead of a dog chewing on a bone, belonging to none other than Vice Admiral Garp - A man Estrella frequently ( at least formerly ) met in her line of work.
She laughs silently, bitter and bile breaths escaping her lips as she tightens her grip on the white railing.
"I'm going to kill you, Monkey D. Luffy." She snarls under her breath, jaw clenching so hard she can hear the whine of her teeth gnashing together.
The oncoming barrage of cannon fire breaks the brunette out of her anger-induced stupor, and she ducks and weaves a path away from the sound of explosions and the smell of gunpowder.
"Hit the deck!" Usopp yells at the sight of an incoming cannon, and Estrella does as she's advised, because this time the heavy metal ball hits its mark.
Wood splinters in every direction, dust and particles rising and clogging their noses and throats.
Estrella is saved from the blunt of the stray pieces of shrapnel and wreckage thanks to the conveniently placed Zoro, who she uses as a human shield.
"Ow." He whines blandly at the piece of wood that falls on his back, face streaked with dirt and eyes harsh with that glare of his.
Estrella has the decency to smile reproachfully, brushing the splinters off his shirt as a half-hearted apology.
"Everybody okay?" Luffy calls to the rest of the crew, and the brunette is reminded of the reason for this unprecedented attack in the first place.
What kind of thing did Luffy do to make his grandfather so angry? The question didn't need much thinking, because Estrella connects the dots easier than reciting the alphabet.
"I think so!" Nami returns his question shakily, looking around at the rest of the people on deck.
"No." Usopp stands, gasping for breath. "Not okay. Not even close to okay!"
Estrella raises a hand from her position on the floor, not bothering to stand. Her back aches from the rough landing. "Agreed."
Luffy shoots up without much difficulty, pointing a determined finger toward the Marine fleet. "Usopp, fire back at them!"
