[a few weeks before the attack on The Princess Andromeda]
"Evans!" Toni and Ethan sing-songed, barging into the daughter of Hermes bedroom.
The demigods were on the princess andromeda, where the entirety of Kronos' army were staying.
In a few weeks Percy would be turning sixteen, where Olympus would be completely and utterly destroyed.
Daphne glanced up as the two of them entered, a small frown on her face. She had been in the midst of reading a book (stolen, naturally) when they had burst into her room.
"What do you want?" She asked, setting the book down on her bed and sitting up.
Over the past year the girl had changed - not even Daphne would deny that. It was like she had switched off her emotions, something that Kronos told her would help her in the end.
But still, she had a soft spot for the two siblings. Both of them were children of Nemesis, something which Daphne had come to adore about them.
Their personalities, once you got to know them, were brilliant.
"You look like you're bored," Ethan remarked, walking further into the room, "Let's do something."
Toni hopped onto the bed, flopping down next to where Daphne was sitting. She picked up the book the daughter of Hermes had been reading a moment ago, her eyes skimming over the cover.
Daphne sat up on her bed. The room she had been assigned was pretty basic, they didn't have time to decorate.
In a few weeks they'd probably be dead anyway.
"Like what?" She asked, with a raised eyebrow.
Ethan leaned against the wall, a smirk on his face. "Well, we could try getting you to loosen up a bit. You always look so serious all the time."
Toni closed the book and looked up at Daphne with a mischievous grin. "Maybe we could get you to smile. Or even," a gasp, "laugh."
Daphne narrowed her eyes slightly. Forget what she said about the soft spot, it was gone.
The daughter of Hermes stood up, grabbing her bracelet from her beside table. Lately she only wore it when she either trained or contacted Silena - who was still spying from Camp.
The bracelet was a painful reminder of her ex boyfriend, Theo. Even after a nearly a year since betraying Camp, she still hadn't gotten over him.
Multiple times she had debated whether to throw the bracelet away, but she never could bring herself to.
"Training room?" She proposed to the two siblings.
Toni and Ethan shared a look, their grins growing wider.
"Training room it is," Toni said, hopping off the bed.
Ethan pushed off the wall, his hand casually reaching to touch the short sword sheathed at his hip. "You're on, Evans."
Daphne forced them a small smile, though he attention was once again focused on her bracelet. The memories of Theo, extending to all her friends, rushed through her mind at once.
She hated how she still missed them and felt guilty.
Noticing, Toni practically shoved her brother out of the room. "We will meet you there, toodles!"
Ethan stumbled slightly as his sister pushed him out of the room. He let out a huff, but didn't protest. He knew better not to mess with the girl.
Daphne watched as the door swung shut.
