unpleasant leaned against the wall tiredly, it had been one long day, but yet it didn't even pass through half of the afternoon, he'd been harassed all day by random players throwing tomatoes at him, and he couldn't even mention the obvious insulting nature of the others. It just seemed like his life was one big hell-ish loop he can never truly break no matter how hard he tried, it was like he was the fool.

Then there was folly.

Now folly was an interesting one, she'd constantly mention his dreams and how 'horrid' they were as if he could even remotely control what traumatizes him once he'd shut those eyes, in the other, she seemed to be one of the very few who took a liking to him, mentioning him feeding off of the hate, the very thing he was familiar with ever since he'd popped out the womb.

"It feels so refreshing to finally relate to someone."

Yeah, as if that was the case.

Unpleasant hated her though. They hated her for causing such a big fuss, especially over his son and his condition. Thank god he was stupid..

And plus; It just thought she was one weird and edgy woman; it reminded him of jasper when he had that one emo phase, the constant cynical phrases especially drove him nuts, but alas she was free to her own nature, he was likely going to keep it to himself.

Except folly knew he wouldn't. She'd known him all too well...even for her standards..

And just as she was conversing with the gradient further, the elevator doors opened and in came the recently visiting pinkette, wearing her casual outfits rather than the suit for work. Stat.

And then folly hissed

"YOU!"

even stat was surprised to see her, turning into a malicious grin

"Folly? Is that you? Oh it's been so long.."

And with that she'd disappeared into her makeshift darkness. Throwing unpleasant off guard as stat placed herself in folly's previous position, turning her head to catch a glimpse of the old man. A hint of recognition written across her eyes as soon as she took in his shape and face.

"Why. You're quite the sight aren't you?"

U pleasant rolled his eyes and looked away, crossing his arms for comfort.

"I don't know why, but I dislike you the most!"

Typical saying for the gradient, he didn't even give a flin-

"I'll make you rot."

Now that got onto unpleasant nerves as his eyes widened and he immediately looked at stat, who just giggled before taking out her flip phone and messing around with it. Picking up a call with someone

"Oh hiii Brock!"

Unpleasant just turned to himself, the noise of stat talking with whoever was on the other side of the line playing in the background as he rubbed his temples, thinking he misheard her or something; don't get him wrong, he's definitely received death threats here and there, but this one. It stuck out. Maybe because it was out of nowhere? It wouldn't know, and it probably didn't want to.

...

It's been a few weeks since that specific interaction, his hate for folly growing and his confusion and slight fear of stat becoming evident. and it's been playing at the back of his mind like a radio as he stepped out of the ice cream store again, and plunged into the depths of happy county, he looked back into the empty shop, seems like crem was taking a break. Or maybe she was upset, he'd know; the atmosphere was mellow as the blue hour set, driving unpleasant further into his neighboring birthplace, seeing all the ruins yet again, and eyeing the bunker on the ground, this is not what he was looking for..well actually, he wasn't really looking for anything. He'd just wander aimlessly until midnight hit. Past the old, rotted gate, through the confusing set of bridges and interconnections and eventually down the suspiciously tied rope and into the bloodied doorstep of a certain art museum within a cave..

He stepped in, not caring for his life now as he looked at all the pairings hung and the chattered pottery mixing in with some old gore, now that made unpleasant a bit sick, he had to avoid looking at it for too long lest he wanted to spiral into a series of those nasty flashbacks again, growing in an environment where hearing peoples heads pop since birth really messes with a human.

What was even more messed up as the shadow that kept following him everywhere, but he didn't pick up the habit of looking over his shoulder, he felt safe being pacified into thinking he was alone, alone in the busted room full of the cult artifacts, safe when he went up onto the podium of the missing mask, tracing the words.

"A real mystery isn't it?"

Unpleasant basically jolted out of his skin and turned around, his heart racing as he saw folly towering over him, staring at him with some sort of..solemn yet smug expression for a moment in the silence before turning, ignoring the gradient for a minute to scan the objects in the room.

"This room..these artifacts" folly said "they all were made within the vision of my brother.."

Unpleasant furrowed his eyebrows, wondering why she'd just randomly info dump in here, but he listened, maybe it'll make for a great next novel; who knows.

"But it didn't want all this you know?" She continued, approaching the cloak hung up "he was nothing but a messenger, fucking everything up by simply being seen and captured for a split second. They found the message, the message I wrote for them. And though it was the one who made it. What a fucking idiot.." she chuckled

"ahahah...ahhh...how funny, this was supposed to alll be for me, to fill in a void I could never fill in back at my home. I basically just had to leave the rest of my life in this earth disguised as a full human. Before the mask broke.." folly stopped, basking in the silence for a moment before slightly turning to unpleasant's direction "do you ever know what heartbreak is like?" She asked softly, unpleasant nodded lightly

"Ah, I knew it.." she turned back, looking at her reflection through the half cracked glass "I know it too well, I remember falling in love, but unlike you gradie I actually managed to get them wrapped around my finger..and I remember wrapping the blanket around my sweet little baby, one of my many children to come. But they all got hunted down. Except for one."

Unpleasant raised an eyebrow, what was she leading onto?

"My child would have my granddaughter, then great grandson, and so on... do you ever ask yourself why your mother was an orphan?"

Wait...

No.

It can't be.

"Your grandparents were hunted down, she was all left, left from my blood. Unpleasant. My child." She turned to him "I've been meaning to tell you this for forever now."

Unpleasant stared in disbelief, shaking his head n as he backed off a bit, folly stood still, turning to stare down at him

"You can stop her. I'll count on you on that day"

Unpleasant felt his head go light headed as he found himself running out of the museum, struggling to get up the rope before collapsing and throwing up, and slowly blacking out, the entire time feeling folly inch closer over his body. Looming over it, maybe like a mother? Or a predator looking for its prey? Perhaps both.

"Sweet dreams, gradie."
