Deep down, Mia knew why Autumn had just walked out. She didn’t say anything to Marjorie and Char because, no matter how much they tried, they wouldn’t understand it the same way she did.
Amelia stood up and said, "I’ll be right back," suggesting she was going after Autumn.

Mia couldn't find Autumn in the nursery itself, so she walked outside, finding her sitting on a bench, staring at the sky.
Mia sat down next to her without saying a word. Surprisingly, Autumn spoke first.

"Mia, you realize what this means, right?" Autumn said, her voice a mix of anger and sorrow.

Amelia looked at the person she once viewed as a little sister, knowing exactly what she was about to say next.

"All these years, they were all for nothing. For nothing at all," Autumn continued. "I lost my brother, my best friend, for so long, just because of my father. He made you turn us against each other." She started to laugh a little, a laugh tinged with madness. "Or what did you call it that one time? Divide and conquer?"

"Yes, that's right. But Autumn, I—" Mia tried to say but was cut off.

"He used, manipulated, and abused you for so long, probably long enough for you to actually start believing all of the things he said," Autumn finally glanced at Amelia. "You know, Mia, I don't blame you, not anymore."

Amelia’s facial expression changed to a slight state of shock, not knowing what to say. Silence surrounded them for a good amount of time.
Finally, Mia stood up and said, "Autumn, I really am sorry. For everything. I’ve seen you grow up and, despite all these horrible things Roger has done to you, turn into a confident and strong woman. I know you don’t want to hear these things from me, but it is the truth. I’ve watched you for so long—I mean, after all, I was the spy," she added jokingly to lighten the mood.

Autumn looked up at her and cracked a little smile. As Mia turned to walk back into the building, Autumn quickly added, "Thank you, Mia."

Amelia turned around, smiled at her, and said, "You know, you really were like a little sister to me." Then she walked back into the nursery.
