And so, the midterms came. Apparently, Horikita's study group went up in flames, and all three of the people that were meant to attend (being Yamauchi, Ike and Pluto) immediately left after Horikita pissed them off too much. That was no surprise for Y/N, when Ayanokoji told him, since he could've seen it coming from a whole universe away.
"Horikita's still studying on her own, but the whole situation is helpless," Ayanokoji had said to him, but failed to share with him that the situation would not, in fact, be helpless after he was done.
As it turns out, Kushida had miraculously found the answers to the questions that would come up on the tests and shared it with the entire class the day before the exam, but Y/N already knew that she wasn't the one who came up with the idea. Fortunately, it didn't take him much thinking to work out who was behind this, since he had spotted her with Ayanokoji speaking to some upperclassman.
"Y-Yes... it was him," she admitted when he confronted her about it not by call but in person, and he noticed she was extremely nervous around him. "He asked me to do it though..."
"I see..." Y/N nodded.
"Um... don't tell him though, he made me promise not to say anything to anyone," she pleaded with him, looking at him with puppy eyes.
"You have my word," Y/N nodded.
"Will you use the answers then?" she questioned curiously, but he shook his head.
"Too much work to memorise them. I can work it out in the test," Y/N assured her when she gave a concerned look. "I'm busy anyway."
Speaking of which, his plan had worked perfectly, aside from the fact he once got a call at 4:00am. Yes, that's right, FOUR FUCKING AM! But he slept through it, so it didn't really matter, did it? It could possibly become a problem in the future, but that was for future him to worry about.
What was his plan though? Is that what you're wondering? His plan was...
"I want to do favours for everyone, in exchange for points," he had told Kushida, whose job was to spread that around so that a lot of people would know and go to him.
And his balance sat at a very nice 112,675 points right now.
Anyway, back to the midterms, everyone had achieved high scores on the test, and Kushida was being surrounded by a bunch of grateful students. Ike had called her an 'angel', and the others dished out more compliments, dedicated to praising their new hero, who had saved them from a terrible fate.
She seemed to be glancing a lot at Y/N though, who noticed it everytime in his peripheral vision. But he showed no sign of noticing or caring, and instead diverted his attention to the teacher at the front, who, with her arms crossed, said, "To be honest, I'm impressed. I never thought you'd be able to get such high scores." Y/N stared at his scores, which were all 100s. Ironically, the tests were easy, at least for him, and cheating wouldn't have been needed. "I acknowledge your efforts."
"However..." she walked over to one of the lists at the front, and drew a line over Pluto's name, who was at the bottom of that list with a score of 39. "You got a failing score, Sudo."
Pluto stared at it in shock, his eyes widened, his jaw fallen a bit. Slamming his fist on the desk, he said loudly, "What? You're kidding! How did I fail?"
"The threshold for failure on this midterm test was 40," Chabashira stated, which sucked since he was just a single mark off. "The average score on the midterm test was 79.6 (Y/N coughed, since he was the one who bumped that score up so much. Almost everyone else had achieved numbers in the sixties and seventies). Divided by two..." Since she had been doing the calculations on the whiteboard, it revealed the number '39.8', which only added insult to injury because- "Since we round that up, you need a score of 40 or higher to pass."
