There was nothing that Y/N despised more than going to swimming pools or the beach with girls. Now he wasn't sexist or anything, but an event made already unbearable by having to socialise was made worse by the presence of girls. He despised the idea of having to hang out, or even see, girls in swimsuits.

No, this wasn't because Y/N was some sort of righteous man, who would never dare to stare at a woman's assets. He was a man of culture, through and through, but that was what was the issue here. Seeing girls in swimsuits, or even worse, bikinis, was an absolute nightmare for him, since he'd get flustered and want nothing more than to lock himself away in solitary confinement. Perhaps he'd even end up staring, and while that was great for the short-term, getting caught was another matter entirely.

So of course, when he got a call from Kushida, asking if he wanted to tag along to go to the school swimming pool with some people from their class, he instantly responded, "No."

"But why? It'll be really fun, and Ayanokoji's convincing Horikita to come and—"

"Horikita?" he emphasised in horror, cutting off Kushida. Now, imagine how much worse things would be if Horikita was with them. "...Yeah, I'm good. Sorry, Kushida."

"Please? You don't want to leave Ayanokoji on his own, do you?" she asked persuasively, and Y/N's eyes widened slightly.

"Holy shit, she's right," he thought in realisation. "Ayanokoji is one of my people... I can't leave one of my people on their own in a climate like that!" Clearing his throat, he stated, "I'll come."

"Yay! Okay, so we'll be going at..." she continued, as Y/N absorbed the key information she was giving, primarily the time and date.

"What am I doing with my life?" he wondered depressingly, curious how things had gotten to this stage. "Agreeing to going to a swimming pool with extroverts and girls? I have truly changed."

"Okay, that's everything," she finished, and Y/N couldn't help but sigh in annoyance. "Don't worry, Y/N, it's not going to be that bad or anything. It'll be fun, I promise!"

"Right..." he said depressingly. "Well, I'll see you there when the time comes. Until then."

"Until then!" she replied, and he could hear the smile, before he hung up, still grumpy.

"This day can't get worse," Y/N thought out loud, only for his phone to ring. He looked at the caller: Pluto. "What now?"

...

With a blank expression on his face, Y/N looked off to the side depressingly, as they waited underneath the rain shelter outside the leisure center. It wasn't because it was raining; it was the opposite, in fact. It was summer break, and consequently it meant scorching temperatures and a lack of rain, but it came occasionally too. So far, Ayanokoji, Sakura (strangely enough), Horikita and Kushida were with him, the latter of which was actively trying to engage in conversation with him.

"So what've you been doing during summer break?" Kushida asked him curiously like it was an interview, leaning forward.

"Stuff," he said grumpily, his eyes now fixed on the floor, examining every detail of the ground. It looked a bit clean, strangely enough.

"What stuff?" she giggled, though must've been a little annoyed at his reluctance to properly participate in the conversation.

"Uh... played basketball," he mumbled.

"Pardon?"

"Played basketball," he repeated, a bit louder.

"Oh! Basketball; you must be good, right?" she smiled at him.
