Chapter 9: Kingdom of Roses (Part 1)

      Ace can't believe it! This is humiliating! Ace ignores the stares of the other Heartslabyul students as he walks out of the Dormitory. Among them was a fellow first-year with dark navy blue hair and cyan eyes.

It was just a tart! He was hungry! Why he wasn't allowed to take one? And it was even placed in a refrigerator where anyone could just take it! There wasn't even a letter sticking to the tart saying that it belonged to someone else! Then if they didn't want the tart to be taken, they should have separated or hidden it somewhere! Or even sticking a note saying that it belonged to Riddle for damn sake!

How come it was his fault?! How come he was punished?! Those rules are shit! Did Riddle expect him to memorize the 810 rules?! He was just a 1st year old! He has only been here for 3 days!

This is so unfair!

Ace is so angry. He can feel the metal collar on his neck. It feels so uncomfortable and humiliating.

Later, it would be his first day as a member of the Basketball Club after the classes. For Floyd-senpai and Jamil-senpai to see him like this...

And Riddle is so unreasonable to stick this collar on him! Refusing to remove it when there would be a class subject that needed the use of magic. With a collar sticking to his neck and restricting the use of his magic, Ace would fail the subject's lessons for today. And it would continue more and more if Riddle continued refusing to remove the collar on him.

For the 1st 2 days, Ace has been mindful of the rules of the Heartslabyul, trying to avoid breaking rules since he got himself sorted out to the dorm where rules are important. The matter with the tart was an accident. It was cruel of Riddle to not accept his apology and activate his signature magic on him. And when Ace decided to use his logic and reason to be pardoned for his 'crimes', the ruler, which was famous for his rules and abiding, was illogical and wouldn't listen to his reasoning.

Stepping out of the Mirror Chamber, Ace feels frustrated.

" What a way to start this day. I guess the rest of this would be a shitty day huh? "

After leaving the Mirror Chamber and the building, Ace eventually made his way to the main street of the Night Raven College. Ace Trappola was surprised when he saw the presence of the magicless student who decided to leave the Night Raven College along with the monster cat.

' What are they doing here? Didn't the Dark Mirror reject them, and that magicless student shamefully walk out with his cat? '

While there was a little part of Ace that was both intrigued and curious, he was mostly pissed off right now. Presently, he didn't give a shit towards the magicless student and his cat.

Ace aims to walk forward and ignore the magicless student who was currently holding a broom and wearing a Night Raven College janitorial uniform along with his monster pet cat when he hears them talking about something that affected him.

" So this is the Queen of Hearts! I heard the students talk about her Yuu! She is very impressive! I heard that she rules a Kingdom that is full of mad people with absolute force and control! She looks intimidating, powerful, and impressive! "

While the monster cat was gazing at the statue of the Queen of Hearts with awe and admiration, a slight smile appeared on the Magicless student's face.

" If I remember, the prefect from the entrance ceremony who tried to stop the other students from laughing at us was from the Dormitory of Queen of Hearts. "

" You're right! He has a heart on his name like the Queen of Hearts! "

" If I am not wrong....his name is Riddle Rosehearts? "

" Hmmm... That sounds about right! If I'm right, you gotta treat the Great Grim-sama with Tuna later! "

" Then.. I should finish sweeping the streets first and attend my part-time jobs at Foothill town before I can buy you a tuna, Grim. "

" That's... You don't need to tir— "

Before the monster cat could continue, Ace decided to interrupt their conversation.

" Riddle stopped those guys from laughing at you two not because he was a nice guy. "

He was pissed off hearing that the magicless student and his monster cat had a favorable impression of Riddle. What is so good about Riddle? He wasn't a good guy. He was an asshole who has a stick on his ass clinging to the rules so strictly.

The two looks at him surprised at his interruption. The magicless student composed himself before his eyes looked at him with caution and wariness.

" Pardon? Could I ask who you are? And why are you interrupting our conversation? "

Approaching the two closer, Ace introduced himself.

" Ace Trappola. 1st year and a Heartslabyul Student. "

" Riddle Rosehearts... you are in the dorm under Riddle Rosehearts. "

" Yes... and I regret the Dark Mirror for sending me there. Wish I could move to another dorm. That Riddle Rosehearts guy who you think is nice is an asshole. "

Yuu and his pet look at him silently. As if they don't believe what he said. It makes him feel more frustrated, and it makes Ace want to make this magicless student and his monster pet cat understand his viewpoint.

He decided to explain and rant about what happened to him and how he got the collar on his neck. After he finished his explanation, the magicless rejected student had a complicated expression on his face.

" That's.... "

" You can see that Riddle Rosehearts isn't nice at all. During the Entrance Ceremony, he only probably cared about sticking to the rules, so that's why he decided to stop the students from laughing at you both. "

The rejected student is silent. His gaze looking at the ground. Ace turns his gaze towards Grim and the statue of the Queen of Hearts.

" You know I used to admire the Queen of Hearts for being so strict and rule-abiding to her Kingdom of Madness. But realizing she is the figure that Riddle Rosehearts is emulating, it's makes me sick! Who does he think he is?! The next Queen of Hearts? Does he think the Night Raven College or the Heartslabyul Dormitory is his Kingdom of Roses or something?! "

While Ace was complaining and venting his anger and injustice, they were surprised when they suddenly heard a robotic voice.

Suddenly, the 3 of them experience a sense of disorientation around their surroundings. After the sense of nausea and disorientation disappeared, everything in their environment changed and became different.

With his mouth parting in surprise, Ace exclaimed.

" What the shit is going on?!  "

They suddenly found themselves tightly in a locked room with only a tiny door and a table with having small tiny key, a drink saying drink me and a cake saying eat me.
