| Shaun |

I wondered how my mother would react when he sees my father. I wondered how she would take seeing him this close, after so long. After…

after what he’d done.

I wondered that all the way home.
It wasn’t a matter of if she’ll see him someday. They are in the same town. Mom tends to be everywhere. They are going to meet eventually. And I hate that I might not be there for her when it happens. It was at this moment I wished she was still travelling and not caught up in this Philip situation, as well as Mrs Bailey’s illness. Not to forget, the news with Raven coming as a shock to us all. I know it’ll be a long time before she thinks about travelling. Especially with the upcoming wedding.

Everything is just a mess.

“You’re giving me the look again, Shaun,” I squinted my eyes, eyeing Raven.

“What look?”

“The ‘you’re sick and I’m waiting for you to collapse, so I can catch you’ look,” she said. I frowned at that. “You know damn well what I mean,”

“No I don’t,” I shook my head, though I think I had an idea. “And I didn’t know there was a look-“

“Well, you’ve been giving me the look, so…” she watched me for a moment. “And stop hovering,”

“I’m not hover-“

Fuck.

Okay, I was hovering. I’ve been hovering since I came back from work. I have been keeping an eye on Raven. I have been watching her like my life depended on it.

“I’m sorry,” I said with a sigh, eyeing the two guys walk out the back door with different equipment and planks, as well as paint buckets, heading towards the treehouse.

“They came with Philip, to help with the treehouse. It’s almost done. I just saw it. It’s so nice,” Raven said watching them. “Also, don’t you think that dude with the tight black shirt has a nice ass?” I gaped at her. She’s yet to notice my shock. “Isn’t it nice?”

Woman, I am right here,” I whisper-yelled. She turns to me, narrowed her eyes and snickered. “The nerve,”

“Come on baby, I’m not flirting with his ass,” she said. “I’m just…admiring mother nature,”

“Mother nature?” she laughs. “That doesn’t even sound right,”

“No running boys!” I heard yelling from my mother, from inside the house.

“You still have a nice ass, don’t worry,” she whispered. “Don’t worry,” she laughed as she patted my ass.

“That doesn’t make me feel better,” I mumbled, eyeing the two toddlers racing to where we are. “Emmett’s…kids?” I asked, unable to recognise the two boys. One had to be ten or so years and the other seven. “More kids?”

“No actually,” Raven said. “Hey boys. This is Shaun Prescott. He lives here,” I smiled at the two boys. “Shaun, this is Wayne Reagan and Lucien… what’d you say your surname was again?”
The two boys blinked, staring at us. The oldest hung his head, snickering, resulting in the young one glaring at him. “It’s Blackstone, ma’am,” he said clearing his throat. “Dude, stop laughing,”

“Sorry, uhm…Miss Prescott wanted to know if you wanted something to eat,” he said. The young kid had familiar grey eyes. I’d know those eyes from anywhere.

“Oh no, I’m good,” Raven said. “Shaun, did you eat yet?”

“Uh…no,”

“Okay,” they both turned to leave and raced back.
