I went back inside the bar when Arthit abruptly left. Why was he even making such a big deal out of it?

However, when I went back in, I didn't find him at the table. In fact, the boys said he didn't come back in. Where did he go then?!

I didn't push it and decided to let it be. I mean, we honestly weren't friends or anything. He was my senior, and that's all. Yes, he did help me, and yes, I did look out for him, but that's about it. I just sat down with Park and Forth, who were surprised to see me alone.

"Where's P?'

"No idea.

"What? You went with him and now you are back. What happened?"

I filled the boys in on what had happened. Both of them gaped at me silently, and then finally Park uttered, "I know you can be cold, Lam, but that's low even for you. Really? That's how you responded to him? It's clear P cares enough about you to make sure you don't get into trouble. You got angry at him and still have the cheek to say it doesn't matter? That's really cold even for you."

I kept quiet, looking at both boys. Was I really that harsh? Just then, Arthit came back in. He went straight towards the seniors table. Park stood up and stopped him just as he passed our table.

"P.. what Lam did. I like to apologise. That was really.."

Before Park could continue, Arthit cut him off.

"He's right, Park. We are not friends. It should not matter. I'm just your head hazer. And senior at school. It's cool."

Arthit just went off after that, not even casting a glance towards me. Park turned to glare at me.

"You are royally fucked, you know that right?"

I stubbornly just leaned back, refusing to admit that it was getting to me that Arthit behaved like that. Park just sighed and sat down. Just then, Kong came to our table. He glared at me.

"Whatever you did, fix it. If you don't, you are dead in my hands. I haven't seen him like that in some time now. Fix it Lam!'

I was stunned at P Kong's outburst. He strode off angrily and Park stood up to go after him. Forth looked at me blankly and just rolled his eyes.

The night ended on a sombre note. We all separated and for the first time in a long while, our group chat was silent. I knew that both Park and Forth were pissed with me though it will not be long but still it stung.

I sighed softly when I got to school the next day. Everyone just looked at me, but no one said anything. Everyone had heard of that outburst yesterday, and it was just trending on our uni social pages.  I went over to our usual table where Park and Forth were. Both boys greeted me as usual, and we chatted despite things being a little tense between us.

Just then, Arthit and Kong came by. He just walked off, spiffy as usual in his red hazer uniform and did not even look my way. We greeted them as usual as they were still our seniors. Kong was his usual self towards us but Arthit just curtly nodded at us. I looked over at Park, who just groaned because we all knew that Arthit was shutting us off. Classes were long that day, and I was cutting it really close by reaching for Sotus on the dot at 6pm. I was starving as I had missed lunch, too.

We got into the thick of things, and soon practice and drills were underway. I remember it being around 8.30pm, when the accident happened. Park was working on weights with the others when one of the guys actually swung the 2kg weighted ball too hard and it flew out of his hand and came directly towards me. I looked up, stunned and was about to react when someone pulled me of the way. We fell onto the floor and I heard a slight cracking sound! I had instinctively closed my eyes and opened it to realize that Arthit had been the one who had pushed me into safety but he had also landed wrongly on his arm and I think he had sprained his arm or wrist.

Arthit tried to keep a calm face as he stood up, cradling his arm in his hand. I stepped forward to help him but he just stepped away.

"Are you ok, Nong?"

I blinked my eyes in shock. "Nong?" I mumbled out.

"Yes. Are you ok?"

I nodded my head. "Are you ok? I heard a cracking sound..."

"I will be fine." Arthit beckoned Kong over and he told him to take charge while he went off to the infirmary. I wanted to go check on him but Kong pulled me back.

"Sotus isn't over yet, Nong."

"But P! P Arthit, he's injured. Let me at..."  But Kong abruptly cut me off.

"Go back. Before your head hazer finds out. Unless you want any further punishments for explicitly ignoring his orders."

I just looked hard at Kong before walking off. Forth and Park checked on me but I was fine. The one who wasn't was him. Arthit. And he was refusing to let me check on him.

Argh, I growled internally as we continued with practice, though Arthit stayed firmly on my mind the whole time.
