“M-Mia, she’s having cramps,” Soha stammered, her tear-streaked face filled with worry.
I blinked at her in disbelief. All this panic for a cramp? For a moment, I felt so foolish for reacting the way I did, but looking at Soha’s tearful expression softened my irritation.
“Cramps?” Lia repeated as Soha nodded.
Then it hit me. Mia had been dieting excessively while pushing herself hard in practice. She must’ve gotten her period, and the lack of care for her body was making the pain unbearable. Usually, she’d throw tantrums, but I could only imagine how bad it must be for her to end up like this. No wonder Soha was emotional.
I turned to the boys in the room, narrowing my eyes. “This isn’t over,” I snapped, fixing Shahab with a sharp glare before spinning on my heel and rushing out.
Lia and Soha followed closely behind as I raced down the hallway, my heart pounding. We reached the hostel, and I pushed the door open to find Mia curled up on the bed, her face streaked with tears and pillows scattered around her.
“Hush, my baby,” I whispered, kneeling beside her and pulling her into a warm embrace. Lia quickly joined in, wrapping her arms protectively around Mia.
“Don’t cry, Mia. It’ll be fine. Okay, tell me what you need?” I asked, pulling back to wipe her tears gently.
“Soha, take my cotton scarf and warm it with the iron,” I ordered, and she immediately rushed to the closet.
“P-Pizza… and chocolate cake,” Mia mumbled weakly from within Lia’s hug.
“Pizza and chocolate cake? Got it! I’ll bring them,” Lia said, already preparing to leave.
“No, stay with her. Soha can order the pizza. I’ll get the cake,” I interjected, knowing Lia, as Mia’s sister, would be better at comforting her.
