Soha and Mia hurried to their room, finding Fariha standing near the bed and Aena seated, cradling Lia in her arms. Lia's fragile form was entirely concealed under a blanket. Without a word, they joined the embrace, enveloping their sister in warmth and comfort.
"Take care of her," Aena instructed as she rose, her voice steady but her eyes betraying a storm of emotions. Soha nodded solemnly. Aena glanced at Fariha and motioned for her to follow. Without hesitation, they stepped onto the balcony.
As soon as Fariha entered, Aena closed the door with a sharp click and spun around, pinning Fariha against it. Her voice was low but laced with fury. "Enough! It was tolerable when it was just you, but now Lia? No!" Aena's words were daggers, and Fariha swallowed hard.
"Relax, she's fin-"
"FINE?!" Aena's voice thundered. "That man was practically devouring her, and it's all because of you!" Fariha turned her gaze away, guilt etched across her face. Aena took a deep breath, stepping back as she tried to collect herself. Her anger was justified, but she realized her outburst had been loud enough to draw attention.
"You're done meeting them," Aena declared firmly, pushing Fariha aside before returning to the room.
Inside, Mia offered, "Api, you can sleep on my bed. I'll stay with Lia."
Fariha silently climbed into bed, her expression unreadable. Aena glanced at her, her tone softening. "Call Mama and tell her you're staying here tonight."
Fariha simply gestured toward her phone, indicating she already had. Turning her attention to Lia, Aena knelt beside her. "Relax, my love," she whispered.
Peeking out from behind Mia's shoulder, Lia hesitated before speaking. "G...guys, I... I need to tell you something." Her voice trembled as she recounted the night she had mistaken Shameer for Mahir on the staircase.
Aena's face turned pale. "Aena, please rel-"
"RELAX?" Aena cut her off, her voice sharp. "Hush, Lia! And you're telling me this now?"
Lia looked down, guilt evident in her posture. Aena sighed, crouching to pat her head gently. "Fine, fine," she muttered before leaning closer. "I'm sorry."
