'I''I''I''I''I''I'

VICTORIA NEVER THOUGHT THAT SHE WOULD TELL LORENZO WHAT HAPPENED TO HER WHEN SHE WAS SIXTEEN, but she never thought they would be married to each other either. The only people who knew about that night were Victoria's family, Camilla, Daniela and Harper because she needed her girls with her and they came running to her. Literally. She would always be grateful to them for that. Also, she never thought that Lorenzo would be so understanding about it and there wouldn't be disgust on his face after he heard that she was raped. That was why she was surprised when he asked if he could hug her. In her mind, every man would have been disgusted.

"I'm sorry, I got your shirt wet," Victoria murmured, pulling away from him a bit, when she calmed down. Enzo looked down at the wet spot from her tears on his chest and shrugged.

"It's nothing," he raised his eyes to look at her. Her eyes were red from crying, her cheeks still wet and her mascara had run down, but she was still beautiful to him. "Wait here."

Victoria nodded and watched Lorenzo stand up. He left the living room and ran upstairs. While waiting for him, she grabbed the paper handkerchief from the box, which was on the shelf under the coffee table, and blew her nose. Enzo returned downstairs a moment later and sat beside her again, taking a wet wipe from the pack in his hands.

"Come here," the blond murmured softly.

Lorenzo gently grabbed her chin and started to wipe her face, cleaning all the tears and what was left of her make-up. It wasn't ideal, knowing wipes didn't remove everything, but it was the thought that counted and made her heart beat a bit faster. Her eyes fell on his focused face and she couldn't look away from him. A few light hair strands fell on his eyes and Victoria watched him blow them away from his sight.

She kept her eyes on him, her heart beating fast and her mind racing. She didn't know what exactly they were doing or what kind of relationship they were having. They got married because that was what their families wanted. They had been living together for a few months now and they were arguing less every day. They kissed a few times and there were also moments like this one or when they were having real conversations. It confused her.

Enzo threw a few dirty wipes on the coffee table and cupped her cheeks to look over her face. His blue eyes scanned over it, checking if he wiped everything away. Her glance dropped to his lips and then rose back to his eyes, but he was already staring at her. Victoria's fingers gently wrapped around his wrists, keeping his hands on her face and his thumb gently brushed her cheek.

"You didn't have to do this, but thank you."

"I know. I wanted to," Lorenzo replied to her, offering her a warm smile. "You're welcome, sweetheart. And thank you for trusting me enough to tell me about what happened," he spoke softly, his gaze locked on hers. It now made sense to him why she had flinched sometimes or didn't want to go further on her birthday when they had their moment. "If you ever feel the need to talk about this because it's weighing on you again, remember you can always talk to me, okay?"

"Okay."

Lorenzo's phone dinged a couple of times, making him lower his hands from Victoria's face. He glanced at his phone, tapped a response and then turned his attention back to Victoria. Just as he was about to speak again, his phone chimed again, causing him to clench his teeth in frustration. It was midnight. Besides, he didn't feel like leaving Victoria alone right now.

"You're the boss now. You should go if they need you," Victoria said as she stood up and picked up her heels that were tossed beside the couch.

"But—"

"No but, Enzo," she cut him off and let out a sigh. "I'm alright. Go and be their boss now," she said and started to walk out of the living room. "Besides, nothing is going to happen. I'm safe here," she added, stopping at the door and turning to look at him.

Victoria could see the hesitation in his blue eyes, so she gave him a reassuring smile. She didn't lie when she said that she was alright. She even felt lighter after telling Lorenzo about what happened to her with that rebel. The curly-haired girl watched him take a few big steps, coming closer to her, and she tilted her head up to look him in the eyes.

"I know that you're safe because I won't let anything happen to you," Lorenzo said, cupping her cheek for a moment before his hand slid down and stopped at her neck, just under her ear. He drew her closer to him, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.

"Be careful," the worried words slipped through her lips before she could stop them, making Lorenzo smile. Victoria couldn't longer deny that she didn't care about him because she did. She still thought he was annoying, but she didn't feel as much hate towards him as she did three months ago.

"I will."

With that, he was gone. Victoria stood in her place for a few more minutes, then went to lock the door and slowly climbed up the stairs. Walking into her and Lorenzo's bedroom, a stupid realisation dawned on her. It would be the first time in three months that she slept alone in this bed and house at night. Even when he worked late, he always slept here and she wasn't alone at night. As crazy as it sounds, she became accustomed to sleeping with him in the same bed.

Victoria changed into her sleepwear, washed her face and slid under the covers. Letting out a sigh, she got comfortable in the big bed and closed her eyes, but she couldn't fall asleep. Groaning, she opened her eyes and extended her arm to Lorenzo's side. Victoria patted it until she found what she was searching for and grabbed his pillow. It was stupid and she knew it, but still pulled it closer to her and his scent gently enveloped her, calming her down. She didn't have time to think this over because sleep came over her and she closed her eyes again.
