I took the scissors to my hair, chopping off a chunk. I continued until my hair was short and reached my shoulders. I was content with this look. Surprisingly I cut it even .I needed a change and this was it. I placed the scissors back in its drawer then headed out of the bathroom.
My mother gasped when she saw me in the kitchen, "Stella your hair! Your beautiful hair! What have you done?!" She exclaimed
"I like it like this mother." I put it simply. I grabbed an apple from our fruit basket, "I'm headed to school I'll see you later."
"Stella what's going on with you?" She asked
"Nothing mother." I lied walking out the door
I got into my car and was about to pull out when I spotted a figure standing directly behind my car. It was a concerned looking Ryder. I sighed and shut my car off and got out.
He stood there with his hands in his pockets, "Where have you been?" He asked me, "I tried texting and calling. I even came by a couple times."
I shrugged, "I've been around."
He placed his hand on my shoulder, "What happened to you?"
"Nothing." I mumbled
"Come we're going somewhere to talk just me and you." He said tugging me along, I let him. "Nice hair by the way."
The drive was quiet, there was no music and no talking. I let my thoughts consume me before I felt a hand on my shoulder
"Hey, you okay?"
"I'm...no I'm not." I told the truth
"Almost there. Hang in there."
20 Minutes later we pulled into a gravel parking lot. He shut off the car and went around to open the door for me. We walked into a woodsy area and we hiked up to a cliff and sat down on a rock that sat near the edge. There was beautiful scenery looking over the valley. Trees filling the open. I was amazed at how breathtaking it was.
We sat there not saying a word until he spoke up, "I used to come here to try to find peace within myself."
"And did you?"
"Eh somewhat." He looked at me, "So tell me why'd you disappear?"
My heart pounded, "Um..."
"Take your time, no pressure."
"You promised you would make sure he never hurt me again." I cried
He sighed, rubbing his neck, "Something happened huh?"
"They raped me." I whispered, tears falling down and all. I continued. "I feel disgusted with myself. I will never be the same."
"I'm really sorry." He said because that's all he can say, "Thank you for trusting me to tell me that. I shouldn't have overstepped that probably set him off. So this is kinda my fault." I started to cry harder, "I'm really sorry Stella. I am." He told me, pulling me into him
I cried for a good while. After I calmed down we sat there in silence for a while and I was actually okay with that. When something this life changing happens it shakes your world upside down. I didn't see it coming and I kinda wished I had. Now I was feeling the after effects.
I finally calmed down. "Wanna get something to eat?"
I nodded, "I could eat."
He grabbed my hand, "Let's find a good place then."
********
"This is good." I said as I chewed the breakfast sandwich he had ordered for me
"Yeah I've heard good things about this place."
