"So tell me would you admit you've experienced quite a bit of trauma?" The lady asked

She was dressed in pink from head to toe, she reminded me of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. She was pretty like that too. I studied her face, bright red lipstick smudged on her lips. Her bright blue eyes. She looked like a model. I almost wondered why she didn't choose being a model over being a therapist. Maybe it didn't occur to her that she was a beauty.

She took off her glasses, "Tess?" She called

I snapped out of my trance, "Um what?"

She sighed, "If this is going to work you need to listen to what I say and ask."

"Okay I'm sorry."

She put her glasses back in, "Have you been through anything traumatic lately?"

I thought for a moment, "Yeah i have in the last few months."

"And how have you been processing them?"

"Sometimes I want to cry when I think about what I've been through. Other times I feel angry and want to punch my pillow."

"Normal, those are normal reactions. The one thing that will help you through it is allowing yourself to go through every emotion. If you push down those emotions you won't get anywhere."

I nodded, "I understand."

She closed her notepad, "This concludes our session. It was very nice to meet you Tess. I hope to see you again soon."

I stood up, "It was nice to meet you too."

"Alright Tess, have a good rest of your day."

I walked out of the office where Joel was waiting in the waiting room. He grinned, "How was it?"

"Painful."

He wrapped his arm around my shoulders, "Proud of you. Wanna get breakfast before school?"

"I'm still going?"

"Yes you can't miss school anymore. I know you've been skipping, bad girl."

"So can I be a little late?"

"Sure."

We headed into the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor. The building was a three story place with so many offices I lost count at how many doors I passed. It was a pretty big place.

I checked my phone which read 7:30 AM. The appointment took only 30 minutes. Surprisingly.

We headed out of the elevator and out the double doors. We climbed into his car and headed to a lock breakfast place we knew about.

Carl's Breakfast Diner was only 10 minutes away and it was already packed when we arrived. We asked the waiter how long it would take to get a table. She said 30 minutes so we decided to wait in the car until then. They would send a text to us when a table is available.

We sat in the car in silence for a while before Jack spoke, "Carter's funeral is this Friday. I found out from his cousin Maverick. Do you want to go?"

I sucked in air before letting it out, "I should probably pay my respects."

"But do you want to go?" He asked again

I nodded before stopping and shaking my head no, "Not really. It would be too difficult for me. I'd break"

"You don't have to go if you don't want to."

"I know." I looked out the window and noticed a store I've never seen before, it was a small bookstore. "Hey I think I'm gonna check that bookstore out."
