Bakugo POV
It had been three days since Chisaki's death.
Three days since I'd heard from Idina.
I had tried to see her at the manor but it was empty, not even the help were mulling the corridors. I didn't know where she was but I had an ominous feeling that something wasn't quite right.
Then again I was probably in my head. I couldn't keep my mind from drifting back to our kiss and how she said she'd come back to me.
But with every day that passed where I hadn't heard from her, the more I doubted whether that was true.
Where the hell was she?
Endeavour hadn't heard from her either and though he acted like it didn't bother him, I knew he was on edge."Are we ready?" Endeavour asked filing in to the warehouse with his flaming hero uniform.
"Have we heard from Hawkes?" Jeanist asked, combing his hair to the side as he spoke.
"No." Endeavour's jaw ticked. "I haven't. We will proceed without him."
The flaming hero stormed to the center of the room and eyed the heroes standing before him, all in our uniforms.
"We have called Kaio to a hero meeting under the guise that a bomb threat had been made. From here we'll be able to get him into a room - isolated - away from whomever the psychic is. We will arrest him there. But we need everyone in position for that to happen. Are we clear?"
The room nodded in silent response.
"Good. Let's go."
It took thirty minutes for Shoto and I to arrive at the Hero Public Safety Commission headquarters with Endeavour. The ride was silent as we all mentally went over the fool proof plan over and over. It would work. It was an excellent plan. Why Idina didn't think so was beyond me. Maybe Endeavour was right, she was too attached.
As we filed into the building we made our way to the top floor where the meeting was to be held. All the others were already in their respective positions, though Shoto, Endeavour and I were the only ones going into the supposed meeting.
The moment we stepped inside the elevator Endeavour's phone went off.
"Change of plan." He murmured through clenched teeth.
"Kaio wants to change the meeting to the lower level."
Shoto and I exchanged glances.
"It changes nothing. The plan still goes ahead. We adapt." Endeavour growled, reading our apprehension.
Swiping his access card he pushed the button for the basement floor. When the elevator doors opened we stepped out into the large space. I had never been to the ground floor.
It was made up of grey concrete. Concrete walls, floor, ceiling..."Sound proof." Kaio appeared out of nowhere, hands tucked behind his back with a knowing smile as if he knew what I was thinking.
Ah. The concrete was to soundproof the place. Fair enough."Endeavour. Thank you for organising the meeting. I appreciate you letting me know that there are some urgent matters requiring my attention. Please, follow me."
We followed the president of the safety commission behind large double doors that took us into a meeting room.
"Sit." He indicated towards the chairs surrounding the oval table in the middle of the room but Endeavour shook his head.
"This won't take long." Endeavour said, stance defensive as he eyed the man behind it all.
"Oh?" Kaio asked, brows raised. He looked innocent enough, that was probably part of the problem. No one would have guessed he was behind half of the crimes he was covering up.
