Violet that morning woke up happy, for the first time in a long time. She shifted to move more into Conrads chest feeling the warmth of his body; something that she had missed with her time away.
She looked over at the clock seeing it read 6 o'clock, she then moved to look at the door, Susannah would have been up watching the sunrise right now, something Violet would do with her. It didn't feel real yet, everything that had happened over the past couple of months didn't feel real or maybe that was just what she was telling herself.
Violet would never bring to the fact that Susannah was dead, she knew it was going to come at one point but it was still to hard to except because accepting it meant that it was real and that her Auntie Anna was gone.
Violet turned her head looking away from the door, leaning her head back into Conrad chest. "You okay, Sunny?" She heard Conrad whisper.
She looked up at him and shook her head, as tears started to fall from her eyes, she didn't even realize they were falling till Conrad wiped them away. "It's starting to feel real Connie, I don't want it to feel real." She mumbled as more tears started to fall.
Conrad wrapped his arms around her as she cried softly into his chest, he looked over at the clock and realized why she was starting to cry. "Why don't you and me go and watch the sunrise?" He asked as he ran his hand through Violets hair.
She nodded into his chest. He helped her out of bed grabbing a shirt for himself and giving Violet a pair of his sweatpants and one of his hoodies, knowing that the morning weather was cold.

They walked down the stairs that lead them to the beach and took a seat on the sand and watched the sunrise. Violet leaned into Conrads chest as her eyes watched the waves come in and out. She let out a shaky breath as the tears started to stop.
Conrad kissed the back of her head, keeping his arms around her, "You are so strong Violet, but you don't always have to be strong for me, okay? She was like your mom too."
She nodded softly as the tears started to fall down her face, she hadn't cried since the funeral because crying made it more real and the last thing she wanted was for it to feel real. Violet sat there on the beach, tears running down her face as she watched the sun rise.
The couple sat in silence as they focused on the waves moving in and out, forcing on the sunrise gave Violet a small sense of peace. It felt good for her to cry, it felt good to be doing the things her and Susannah would do.
"Connie?" Violet asked softly, he hummed and looked down at her, "Could we do this every morning? It's nice, I feel calm."
Conrad smiled softly and kissed her cheek. "Anything for you, my love."
Violet smiled and went back to focusing on the beach.
It was pretty, it made sense why Susannah would come out almost every morning to watch it, however all Violet could think about was how different it was without Susannah, but maybe that was a good thing. Her first step in healing.
