𓇽That's the way everyday goes
Every time we've no control
If the sky is pink and white
If the ground is black and yellow
It's the same way you showed meNod my head, don't close my eyes
Halfway on a slow move
It's the same way you showed me
If you could fly then you'd feel south
Up north's getting cold soonpink + white, frank ocean

Violet walked around in the kitchen, as she gathered ingredients to prepare breakfast for her and Jeremiah. Violets mind was elsewhere, lost in thoughts that she couldn't quite shake. The routine of cooking was comforting, a distraction from the swirling emotions she was trying to suppress.
Clara and Nicole had stopped by the night before, dropping off groceries and a few prepared meals for them as they knew last night was going to be a shits-how. Violet appreciated the gesture, but it also served as a reminder of how much things had changed.
Susannah would always cook for them, and Violet would always help Susannah cook. She sighed, glancing at the nearly empty cabinets. The pantry was looking sparse, Susannah always made sure they had food.
"We're going to have to go shopping later today," Violet said, her voice cutting through the silence. She pulled out a carton of eggs, setting it on the counter. "We don't have much food left."

Jeremiah, who had been sitting at the kitchen table lost in his own thoughts, looked up at her. He noticed the strain in her voice, but he didn't say anything not wanting to add more stress to the girl. He nodded, "Isabel and I can do that later," he offered, "That way, you can talk to Connie. How does that sound?"
"That works for me," she murmured as she cracked an egg into the pan, the sizzling sound filling the room. The two of them fell into a comfortable silence, the only sounds coming from the soft clinks of cooking utensils and the bubbling of the eggs.
Jeremiah couldn't help but fidget with his fingers, his eyes fixed on the older blonde as she moved around the kitchen. He admired her strength, but he also worried about her, Conrad told him to look out for her while he was gone. She had always been the one to hold everyone together, to put on a brave face no matter what. But even Violet had her limits.
"Vi?" Jeremiah's voice was tentative, as if he wasn't sure he should ask the question that had been on his mind.
Violet hummed in response, her focus still on the breakfast she was preparing. "Would you and Isabel ever be friends again?" His words were hesitant, "You and her used to be so close, and I just... I was wondering what happened between the two of you."
Violet laughed softly, but there was no humour in it. "Her and I will never be friends again," she replied. "We stopped being friends because she couldn't stand the fact that Conrad and I were close, that he had a crush on me. It became this thing between us, and eventually, we had a huge fight about it. After that, we just... we weren't friends anymore."
Jeremiah nodded, absorbing the story. He never knew why it happened, he just remembered her leaving and not talking to Isabel anymore. "Would you ever forgive her for what happened over the summer and at the funeral?" he asked, his voice soft. He knew it was a delicate subject.
Violet scoffed, shaking her head as she began to plate the food. "There are some things you just don't do to another girl. Girl code. And she broke that. So no, I don't think I'll ever forgive her. We'll never be friends again, not after everything that's happened."
