Mr. Twain was teaching us about the different types and styles found in Incantations. He was in the middle of another one of his boring lectures when red flowers began to bloom out of nowhere. They bloomed from the chalkboard, the walls, and the floor. There were vines of red flowers everywhere in the classroom. What was going on? Did one of the students in this school cast a spell wrong?
"Stay calm class, this is our security alert for when there is an intruder." Mr. Twain spoke in his usual monotone voice. I felt a shiver down my spine. "Wait," All the panicked chatter stopped, "where is Mr. Carnell? Did anyone see him before class?"
I looked around the classroom with a frown. Sierrah looked equally worried as well, her worried eyes and pursed lips told me she had not seen him. I last saw Adriel in History Class an hour ago. From the looks of Storm and Esme's faces, they last saw Adriel in History Class too. Where could that pesky prince even be at this time? Combing his hair and admiring his face in the mirror? I clenched my fists and slowly put on my leather satchel. I didn't want my teacher to notice me just yet.
"Well, we can deal with that later." Mr. Twain frowned. "Now would everyone kindly line up-" Mr. Twain began.
I bolted up from my desk, and ran out of the classroom.
"Aurelia! Now is not the time to-" I ran far away so I couldn't hear what Mr. Twain said in his mildly annoying voice. Why was I always the one running to the rescue whenever Adriel was in trouble? Sierrah was his cousin, Storm was the second closest to Adriel in our friend group. I never even get to hear what people say whenever I run to his rescue. Do they complain or cheer me on? I got deja vu from when I first met Adriel, Mr. Carson had failed to stop me that day.
Our school was in the shape of a capital "I" so there had to be a bridge that connected the two main buildings of this school. I crossed the bridge in my school and I looked down to see movement in the West Courtyard. I ran down the spiral staircase, what kind of trouble did Adriel get himself into now?
I found Adriel going head to head with a black haired boy on the West Courtyard. If you could even call it a battle. Adriel was attacking, and another boy was effortlessly evading everything sent his way. I had never seen this boy before, but he looked familiar. With his light brown skin, and short, dark brown, semi-wavy hair. The boy almost looked like... me.
"Hello your majesty, pleasure to meet you," the boy teased Adriel. Adriel didn't say anything, he only threw flaming projectiles at his male opponent. Adriel seemed to get more and more frustrated and exhausted at the same time. "I heard you were my sister's partner," The boy managed to dodge everything Adriel threw at him. What? Did he really just say that Adriel's partner was the boy's sister? He must have his intel wrong. "Mind telling me where she is?"
The boy's back was turned to me so he and Adriel hadn't noticed me yet. Adriel hadn't noticed me because he was too focused on the fight. Apparently, Adriel wasn't focused enough because Ambrose punched him square in the jaw. But Adriel recovered fast, wiping the blood that dripped from his mouth.
They kept on fighting physically, and...verbally. It really wasn't pretty. Either way, this boy, who came from nowhere, was a threat. And besides, I didn't like him that much.
"Can I help you?" Adriel scoffed. "It depends, who's your sister? Is she even more annoying and worse at fighting than you are? Wait, that can't be possible!" I tried not to laugh. Adriel didn't give up on his fire, even though I could see he was exhausted. Both Adriel and the boy were sweating, but Ambrose seemed calmer than Adriel, who was breathing heavily.
"Oh, my sister? No one important, I just found out recently that my sister went to school here." The boy replied, ignoring Adriel's derogatory comments. "And her name? Well I don't feel like telling you just yet. It would ruin the guessing game."
