Chapter 9:
Cassie's P.O.V
All the screaming was making me feel dizzy. Without hesitation, I pulled out my vape and inhaled the juice. Suddenly, my body started twitching.
"CASSIE'S HAVING A SEIZURE!" Emma screamed at the top of her lungs. "Somebody help her please!"
No, it can't be my turn.
"Cass, Cass look at me please," Marla tells me calmly. "I'm right here."
"Try not to touch her Marla," Emma stated. "I read an article about seizures, we have to wait until she stops jerking.
I couldn't even respond, the seizure was so intense I started spitting up, twitching, jerking, and even having trouble breathing.
"Cassie? CASSIE?!" Emma yelled. "She's not breathing!"
The ambulance finally arrived, they were able to perform CPR on me and save my life. I don't even know why they bother, they should've just let me die at this point..."
Marla's P.O.V
Everything going on right now is giving me severe anxiety. It's just like what happened with my situation! I passed out in Cassie's arms, then found out I had cancer. Now poor Cassie had a seizure in my fucking arms and probably has lung cancer from that freaking vape! Damn it...
Emma and I were pretty much waiting for Cassie. It took almost 2 hours before we could finally see her. Just like when Cassie visited me...
"Hey... Guys," Cassie said in a raspy voice.
"I'll give you girls some privacy," Cassie's mom said.
"For fucksake you're alright! How are you feeling?"
"I'm okay," Cassie responded. "Where's my vape?"
"Cass... we... we threw it away," Emma stated. "When you fell on the ground, I managed to grab it and throw it away. We need you to be healthy."
"Emma! This isn't your fucking life! This is my life! Why do you even fucking care?!"
"Why are you always blaming other people?!"
"Enough! Both of you please. I can't take the yelling anymore," Marla shouted.
"Get out! Both of you!"
Emma and I both left the room, we wanted to give some space. It's gonna take her a while before she can finally recover. She's going through a lot, time just needs to be patient I guess.
I ended up falling asleep when I got home. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Nope, the next day was hell. I opened my phone to people posting about Cassie, just like how everyone was posting stuff about me when I was in the hospital. I got so furious I threw my phone across the room. I feel sick for even looking at this.
Walking down the hallway was a pain, everyone just kept staring at me. I accidentally bump into Kayla. Here we go again.
"Fag! You wanna watch where you're going?" Kayla snapped.
"Sorry Kayla, I'll fucking move," I say rudely.
"You know, let me tell you something."
"What?" I asked. "What could you possibly tell me?"
"I think you have a little crush on Cassie, don't you?"
"Excuse me?! No... I don't!"
"Sure... sure you don't," Kayla says.
"Knock it off Kayla! Fucking bitch."
She grabs me by my jacket and pings me against the locker.
"Listen to me you son of a bitch, call me that one more time and you'll see what will fucking happen. I know your secrets, so don't even try."
She drops me on the floor, I see Emma coming towards me.
"Get the fuck out of here Kayla!" Emma screams. "Shit Marla, you okay?"
"I'm fine, help me up please."
Emma grabs my hand, picking me up.
"Thanks Emma..."
"Anything for a friend."
After school, I head over to the hospital to visit Cassie. I've been thinking a lot about what Kayla said. There's no way I have a crush on her. Even if I did, I would notice right?
"Cassie?" I asked. "Can I come in?"
"Fine," Cassie responded. "How's everything going with school? Hope no one is talking about me or that bitch Kayla isn't starting with you."
"Yea she kinda is. Everyone is also posting videos about that whole fight with you and her. Looks like we both won't be catching a break for now."
"Well... that's just great," Cassie says sarcastically.
"Can... I hug you? Only if you want."
"Sure, I don't see what's wrong with a harmless hug."
As we're hugging I can smell blossom perfume. I try so hard not to blush, her lips are so perfect I just wanna- wait no! Stop it Marla, this is your bestfriend for crying out loud. You can't just have feelings for her out of nowhere! Great, she's staring at me now confused.
"Marla, why is your face so red? I hope you're not allergic to this perfume!"
"No! I just... uh... something came up... yea."
"You're acting really weird."
"I'm sorry. I just have been off lately."
"I can tell."
"I'll see you tomorrow," I say.
"Bye.."
Cassie's P.O.V
Okay! So now everyone's talking about me, Kayla's starting shit with Marla, and she's also acting super weird! What is going on...
"Ms. Butterfield," Dr. Jen calls out.
"Hey Doc, is everything okay?""Well, we did notice after your seizure you lost mobility in your legs. Meaning that you won't be able to walk for 2 days, but you should be back on your feet after."
"Awesome," I say sarcastically.
"You're able to go home."
The nurses put me in a wheelchair since I wasn't able to walk. My mom was able to put me in the passenger's seat.
"See what happens when you lie... it gets to you Cassie."
"Mom, I'm in no mood for lectures right now."
"Cassie, you lied to me! I told you to throw away the vape and you hid it from me!"
"Well it's gone now alright, thanks to my friends."
"I hope you know those girls did you a favor, you need to learn," Mom states. "You'll also be starting your therapy sessions soon. Hope you're happy."
"I'm grateful mom, thanks."
Mom finally arrived at my school, I'm way too embarrassed to be seen right now.
