Chapter 11:

Just after having to deal with every single therapy session all week, Cassie was finally clean and walking, along with Lydia. Of course with Lydia, she was able to recover pretty quickly. With Cassie however, things weren't going great.

The withdrawal symptoms were hitting pretty quickly on her. She refused to eat, sleep, and even was getting depressed. Cassie felt like the only thing that saved her was the vape, her mind telling herself that but her body was telling her that Marla and Emma helped her.

Cassie was up all night throwing up, this was pretty much due to her not eating like she was supposed to. Her mother tried everything she could to have her eat, but it wasn't working out.

School was even harder for her. Not only because of fucking Kayla, but with suspension and possibility of getting kicked from being student body president. Cassie knew that today was the day of her being told she can no longer be president. The anxiety was so hard for her to get rid of. Most of the time she was just able to whip out her vape, inhale the juice, exhale the smoke, and then bam anxiety was over for her. Now she has to suffer having panic attacks everyday at school, vomiting in the toilets, starving herself, and crying.

Cassie tried her best not to let anyone know. She didn't want Emma or Marla to see how fucked she has become. But everyone was clearly starting to notice the changes in her.

"Cassie! You should come help us set up the prom!" Emma blurted out.

Cassie just ignored her and just walked away. As much as she really wanted to help out her friends, her withdrawal wasn't letting her.

"Damn, her withdrawal really is beating her."

"What's withdrawal?" Marla asked.

"Oh it's like a thing where people who stop drugs get really depressed and irritated," Emma responded. "Did Lydia go through it?"

"No actually, she recovered pretty great. Don't know why Cassie didn't recover quickly."

"Everyone is different Mars, just gotta be patient."

Marla knew patient wasn't the right word, more like we have to wait. She didn't let that get to her though, she was more focused on setting up for prom. Marla and Emma started setting up flowers and reddish paint. Both girls knew the theme had to be the spring season, so they were able to get everything started.

"Should we listen to music?" Emma asked.

"Nah, it's okay. Talking helps me focus more."

"Cool, no music!"

Marla started painting the walls red and gold from top to bottom. Emma put up each flower in a pattern, first the sunflowers then the cherry blossoms. Everything was starting to look amazing. Lydia came by through the door, she was holding what looked like to be LED lights.

"Sis, what are you doing here?" Marla asked.

"Wanted to help, I thought these lights would do the trick."

"Oh these would be great! Thanks Lydia."

"No problem Emma."

Marla smiled at Lydia, "So, how has everything been?"

"Everything has been great actually sis, I'm glad I recovered," Lydia responded. "How about you? Everything okay?"

"Cassie started having withdrawal symptoms, she's going through a lot right now."

"Shit, I'm sorry Mars. I hope she's okay."

"I hope so too."

Emma wanted to give Marla and Lydia some space. She grabbed the LED lights and started putting them up on the walls.
