Rumors

Chapter 10:

"Cassie! Thank goodness you're here!" Emma yelled out.

    "What's going on?"

    Kayla is laughing near the lockers. Something doesn't feel right. Cassie's phone keeps going off, she checks to see what's happening. As soon as she opened her phone, her eyes widened. There's rumors going around that Marla might have a slight crush on... me?!

    "Emma, what is this about?!" Cassie asks, confused.

    "Um... Kayla kinda was at the hospital and decided to eavesdrop on your conversation with Marla. She recorded the whole thing on video."

"Damn it!"

"Aw, is Cassie upset about her girlfriend."

"You're fucking joking right?! Why would you spread rumors!"

"C'mon Cassie, don't act like you don't know."

"You invaded our privacy! Stay the hell away from us next time."

Seriously with her! Being in the hospital one time and this just had to happen. Everyone needs to really just fucking leave her alone.

Cassie was trying to find Marla. Soon she was able to find her in the bathroom.

"Marla, are you in here?" Cassie called out.

"Hey..."

"Hey, you alright?"

"I'm fine, it's just stupid rumors..."

"You can talk to me if you know... I'm not gonna judge you."

"What are you talking about?" Marla asked. "Judge me about what?"

"You being gay I suppose?"

Marla's eyes widened with what Cassie stated. She thought about what being gay might have felt like. The triggering anxiety in her stomach set her off. Almost like she's having a panic attack.

"Look Cass," Marla starts in. "Just because someone says something doesn't mean it's true, I don't have feelings for you, trust me..."

Which was clearly a lie she had to say to herself. Always answering with a no, maybe, wait I think so, yes I do. Marla wasn't so sure how to tell her own best friend she likes

her. Having to confess to someone was the hardest thing to do, especially if you knew this person for years or if it's around other people for that matter.

With Cassie, she just kept looking at her confused. Cassie thought for a moment that she's definitely hiding her sexuality. She thought about how back at the hospital she wouldn't stop blushing after they hugged. As much as Cassie didn't want to believe this stupid rumor Kayla was bringing up, she kinda had to right now.

"If you say so," Cassie responded back, not knowing what else to say.

Cassie and Marla start heading back to their classes. Not one of them said a word to each other for the whole day.

Before Cassie was about to go home, Lydia caught her attention.

"Can we talk?" Lydia asks.

"Now what?" Cassie responds. "I swear if this about-"

"It's not about Kayla's rumor okay, it's about us."

"Go on..."

Lydia sighs trying to get the words out of her head.

"I need you to just... get clean."

"You don't need me to do anything, you're only saying this shit because Marla's sister!"
