Chapter 22:
I was pretty shocked that Ayden's dad decided to visit me in the hospital. I thought he would hate me after the whole argument that broke out but I guess I was wrong. His dad honestly is the most supportive person on the planet, I don't get how Ayden's mom can't be like him. Emma decided to leave the room to give us both some privacy, I can tell this conversation was going to get a lot deeper.
"No no! Please, if you insist on holding her," I say.
Jordan pulls towards Madisyn, he holds onto her close. The feeling he was having really stuck to him. He looked at her as he watched her eyes open up, Madisyn had Aydens eyes. It almost made me jealous how perfect Madisyn's genetics are.
"She's beautiful Cassie, I love her already!"
"Thank you sir, I appreciate you coming to visit us."
"Please, call me Jordan. We're family now."
That phrase hit me in the chest. I started to tear up a little. Jordan noticed that I was crying, so he put Madisyn down on the bassinet and pulled me in for a hug.
"Oh sweetheart, it's going to be alright. I know your mom and Ayden would've been so proud of you! I want you to do me a favor, don't give up on yourself nor Madisyn. Okay?"
"Thank you Jordan, I'm so grateful to have a father figure like you."
"know... I'm sure Jennifer will come around. I'm here If you need anything though! I would be happy to babysit Madisyn sometime."
"Of course, I'll think about that!" I say excitedly.
"Take care Cassie."
Emma comes back inside the room as Jordan leaves, she noticed I was still crying as well. She really hates it when I cry, the thought of me with tears hurts her.
"Cassie! Why are you crying?! What did he say to you?! Oh I swear!" Emma asked furiously. "Tell me what's going on right now!"
"Emma calm down! He didn't say anything. It was just an apology."
"Apology? For what?"
"I'm guessing for everything his mother caused," I say. "And also for Ayden dying."
"Well, I gotta get going. Text me if you need anything Cassie."
"Sounds good."
Great! Now that Ayden is gone, I'm stuck raising Madisyn on my own. I don't know what I'm gonna do but I know I have to try and make sure my daughter has a great life. She's gonna need it.
