The drive-in

Aurora's POV:

I went upstairs to grab my cardigan before we left. It was a little breezy outside and I didnt wanna be cold. we started walking to the drive-in and stopped at someones house beforehand. it was a nice, small but not too small, white house. Keith started calling for these two boys.

"Ponyboy Curtissss!!" He called. 'interesting name..' I thought to myself.

"Johnnyyyy!!!!" He called.

Two boys came outside from the house. One was short, had dark hair, and was more tan and shy than Keith and the other boy. The other boy had greenish-grey eyes, reddish-brown hair, and a really sweet smile. "Hey-a two-bit" They said and shook Keith's hand.'two-bit? I thought his name is keith' I thought to myself.

"Guys this is my cousin Aurora. be nice." He said

"well nice to meet ya. I'm ponyboy" The taller boy smiled at me.

"I'm johnny." The shorter more tan boy said. He seemed more timid and had a small scar on his cheek. He seemed shy.

We all started walking to the drive-in movie theatre. When we got there it was divided into two sides. one said west and the other said east. I assumed it was for the whole greasers and socs drama crap. everybody went to the side that said west since the east side was closed. We all payed a quarter to get in. We sat behind these two really pretty girls. they were obviously socs I could tell based off of how they dressed. One had short brown hair and the other had sorta long red hair that went just below her shoulders. I sat down and next to me was Keith, then ponyboy, and then johnny. Some other guy came along and sat next to johnny. He was tall and wore a jean jacket along with dark jeans just like the other two boys and Keith. "Hey dal this is my cousin Aurora" Keith said and gestured toward me. "Aurora this is dallas or dally" Keith said. I nodded and waved a bit. He just looked at me and sat down.

Me, ponyboy, and johnny were actually focused on the movie. Maybe johnny a little less interested than me and ponyboy. Dally was just harassing one of the soc girls in front of us. It was the red haired girl. she got angry and poured her soda all over him so he left. She turned around to face ponyboy, johnny, and Keith.

"Are you gonna start in on us too?!?" She asked angrily but it faded away when she saw the innocent looks on johnny and ponyboy's faces.

"oh uh no." Johnny said.

"You guys dont look like the type anyway.." She said and then turned to look at me.

"Whats a pretty girl like you doing with these hoods?" She said jokingly and smiled at me. I smiled back and then replied.

"Im aurora he's my cousin so uh.. yea" I gestured toward keith who was next to me.

"My names sherri, but they call me cherry cause of my hair" She said. and then I remembered who she was. she went to my highschool and was in a few of my classes since I was taking higher classes so I wasnt bored.

"Yea I know your in a few of my classes" I said trying not to sound to rude or sassy

"You dont look old enough to be a junior?" She said. "Yeah I got put into higher classes" I replied. she nodded and then turned back around. by then Keith was talking to her friend.

The movie ended and we started the walk home. we stopped at ponyboy's house and went inside. I kinda just anted to go home but I just followed two-bit. There were three other guys in the house when we walked in. Two were wearing blue DX shirts. One of them had a DX hat on and the other had a tattoo on his shoulder. there was another guy who looked older than the rest of them. He had big muscular arms that bulged out of his shirt.

"Guys this is Aurora she's two-bits cousin" Ponyboy said gesturing to me. They all looked at me which made me a bit anxious. I always had anxiety and stuff like that. I cared about what people thought of me and I always got worried in the simplest situations. I waved a bit at everybody and they started introducing themselves.

"im sodapop. ponyboys older brother" One of the boys in the dx shirt said.

"Im darry im also their older brother" The older guy said.

"Im steve im just another friend" He chuckled and waved at me. I nodded and looked around fidgeting with my fingers.

"alright were gonna get goin before my mom starts to worry about aurora. I'll see ya'll tomorrow" Keith said and we walked out.

"Why do they call ya two-bit?" I asked him as we walked down the sidewalk

"Because i'm hyper and talk a lot but mostly jokes" He laughed. I nodded and we approached the house.
