Aurora's POV
Homecoming was coming up in a few weeks and people were already pairing off. Me and Ally weren't sure anyone was gonna ask us but we just brushed it off. Homecoming wasn't the biggest thing i guess you could say. I mean there was a dance, and some sports games. It was normally super fun though from what I heard. When I got to school and met up with ally the first thing I noticed was the dum posters on the wall saying who to vote for homecoming king and queen. I couldn't seem to care less. It would be to no surprise if the seniors got voted for homecoming king and queen rather than the freshmen. I just ignored the signs and the occasional people who were getting asked to homecoming that I passed by in the halls. I tried to focus in my classes but I couldn't help but feel a little weird. My mind kept on drifting to Ponyboy. I tried brushing it off but he kept coming back to my mind. He's just your cousins friend and your partner on the project. nothing more. right? I kept thinking to myself trying to push him out of my mind. But it seemed that my heart just kept putting him back into my mind. It was bugging me all morning.
Ponyboys POV
It was getting closer to homecoming and I was starting to think maybe I should ask Rory to homecoming. No ways.. were just friends plus we barely know each other. right? ok maybe we do really know each other already but theres no way she'd say yes.. Those thoughts were fighting in my mind all day and it was bugging me so I just decided to disregard it and ask her anyway. It was study hall right after lunch and on the way to the library I picked a few random flowers from the bushes outside the school building to give to her. I walked into the library with johnny and there she was sitting with ally talking. Her eyes ended up drifting over to me. I had convinced johnny to ask out her friend ally. And for some reason he actually agreed. I don't even know how I did it.
Aurora's POV
I was sitting in the library talking to ally since it was study hall when I noticed Ponyboy and johnny walk in. I brushed it off and continued our conversation.
"...and so she turns around and theres a few guys from the football team lined up holding signs that spell 'HOCO' in purple which is her favorite color apparently and she screams yes!" ally said
"Seriously?? Damn thats so sweet!" I said
Ponyboy and Johnny came up to our table. Johnny had pulled ally to the side and ponyboy came to sit next to me. I looked up from my journal and shut it.
"Hows it going pony?" I smiled softly.
"Pretty good. How's your day goin'?" He asked me
"Its been alright. Just tired of hearing everyone getting asked to hoco.." I said
"Yeah me too.." He said and we both sighed.
"You going with anyone special?" I asked. God why'd I ask that? Now he surely knows i like him ..
"naw.. I don't think so. not yet at least.. what bout you?"
"nope nobody asked me yet.." I trailed off and suddenly we heard ally scream 'Yes!!'. I turned to look at her and johnny in the distance and she has a big smile plastered on her face and Johnny was grinning. I felt slightly jealous since she now had someone to go with to hoco and I didn't. I thought we were just gonna go together..
Ponyboy's POV:
When we got closer to Rory and Ally I heard their conversation. They were talking about how Bob asked out Sherry to homecoming at the last football game. Rory seemed like she really like that kinda romantic stuff. I felt like I needed to do something like that. Maybe i'll invite her to my track meet tomorrow evening and i'll ask her then.. I thought to myself as we approached their table. Johnny had already pulled ally aside to ask her out. I felt bad. When ally said yes me and Rory could hear it and I saw her change in expression. Thats when I really started feeling bad.
