Vegas finds Kai in his home office. The latter scrunched up his face at his sight. "Is something wrong with Mac?" he says, worry evident in his voice.
"No, but Porchay is kidnapped and Cau is with Kim at this moment."
"With Kim?" Kai can't follow. His worry is just up a double-notch.
"Yeah, they are heading south to hunt."
"Hunt?", pause, "No," Kai's face morphs from confusion to anger when he finally understands. "V, you fucking asshole! How could you say yes to that request?" he shouts and whips his phone from his pocket. In seconds the call is answered. "Baby, tell me where you are right now. Your lovely brother told me you're with Kim now, going hunting."
It's amusing for Vegas to see his friend like this, like he is losing his mind, just in minutes, and the reason for it is his brother. There is indeed sarcasm in Kai's sentences but the voice itself is not much different from the way he usually uses it.
"You know," he says, Kai only indicates that he is also paying attention to Vegas by his eyes, "He's still 20. You can't marry her just yet."
'Fuck you', Kai mouthed. "No, you're going to fucking tell me where you are right now then I'll come down!"
He's getting points from Vegas for still not shouting although Vegas knows Kai is boiling inside.
"If you don't, then your hia is going to walk away from my house with fucking empty hands then," he says nonchalantly, shooting a look to Vegas who makes himself comfortable by sitting down. Macau is still too green to go up against Kai, Vegas thinks. Maybe he should teach him a thing or two.
Whatever Macau says, it gets Kai to relax and says, "Thank you. I'll be with you shortly after I sort the thing with your hia." Kai cuts the connection without giving time for Macau to respond.
"What's up then, V? Hurry up, I got a boy to take care of."
Vegas hikes his brow. "That boy is my brother."
"I'm still going to say 'fuck you' to that," Kai says. Vegas smiles at him and hands Kai Ash's note.
Kai whips his phone and later Vegas reads his message. "That's the list of Ash's father's warehouses for that business, part of them at least, the ones we positively know. We still don't know how big BIG is the scale and who exactly is involved, but we figured they must be powerful." Vegas looks at Kai meaningfully and Kai nods. They are thinking of the same institution and probably the same people. No wonder they can move freely and Korn seemed to be unable to refuse the offer. It was too risky at the same time it was too good.
"Do you mind if I take a couple of my men?" Vegas just nods absent-mindedly.
"I'll send this to the group chat first before we go," Vegas pushes a few buttons on his phone and they are on the move to the parking section of the house. They stop for a moment in a room to get guns and ammunition.
"You guys have a group chat?"
His friend nods. "For family and business matters, separated. You don't know how alive the family chat is with Tankhun, Porsche, Pete, and my brother in it."
"Why am I not in it?"
Vegas looks at him like he is one delusional mother fucker. "You haven't even attended the family dinner, Kai. You blew up the last invitation, remember? I don't know what you gave to my brother for that one to get him to stop sulking."
Kai sighs. "I can't can't go. That business in America is huge. Like a hundred million dollar huge," Kai pauses when he sees Vegas's sedan. "My car is more suitable for mountain roads." He points to his midnight blue wrangler. Vegas agrees.
