16. Beneath the Calm

Also, I'm not a doctor so any doctor or MR out there please bear with me if I have got anything wrong just take it as a story, someone's imagination :) Happy Reading :)

Story

Birla Hospital:

Akshara's ward:

Abhimanyu entered the ward and saw Akshara sleeping deeply. Looking at her face lovingly, he noticed there was a frown on her face, even in her sleep. He walked closer and gently touched her bandaged forehead, remembering what Dr. Rohit had said about her injury. "She was hit here with something sharp and with force, maybe a rod, rock, or something causing this."

Abhimanyu's eyes glistened with anger, sadness, guilt all at once thinking about it. In a soft whisper filled with emotion, Abhimanyu spoke to her, "Akshu, you've been through so much – the accident, coma, and losing your memory. And I wasn't there for most of it. I can't forgive myself for that. But I promise I'll never leave you alone again. I'll find whoever did this to you and make them pay. You'll see, I'll protect you no matter what."

As Abhimanyu spoke, a subtle transformation swept over Akshara's features. The creases of worry dissolved from her brow, replaced by a serene calmness that seemed to emanate from within. It was a sight that stirred Abhimanyu's heart. He was touched seeing his effect on her even in an unconscious state Yet, as quickly as the moment of connection had come, Abhimanyu withdrew his hand, mindful of the delicate balance between love and professionalism. as he doesn't want to wake her up as she doesnt remember anything it would be awkward for her to find her doctor cupping her face

Abhimanyu's pager beeped reminding he has a surgery to attend in 30 minutes, his heart sanked he felt a chill down his spine thinking of leaving her alone even its just a matter of some hours he glanced down at Akshara, her delicate features softened in sleep, a wave of tenderness washed over him. As he thought, "How could I leave her, vulnerable and alone, in her time of need?"

He knew that his skills were needed elsewhere, to prevent others from experiencing the same pain she had endured. Abhimanyu brushed aside his doubts. He had everything under control. His team had been briefed, instructed to keep a vigilant watch over Akshara's condition in his absence. and never to leave her alone and allow no one to visit her except Dr. Rohit in his absence, not even their family as he cant take any risk. With a final, lingering touch, he gently brushed a stray lock of hair from Akshara's forehead, silently vowing to return to her side as soon as he could.

Outside Akshara's ward:

Abhimanyu met his most trusted team member Dr. Rohan was accompanied by nurse Nisha who went inside Akshara's ward. Without skipping a beat, Abhimanyu addressed Rohan with a sense of urgency, his voice tinged with concern and desperation for Akshara's well-being.

"Rohan, you remember everything, right?" Abhimanyu's words were loaded with gravity as he emphasized again. "I need every minute's update on Akshu's condition, No detail is too small, no precaution too insignificant when it comes to her well-being"

Rohan met Abhimanyu's gaze with a reassuring nod, "Don't worry, sir. I won't let you down. I'll take full care of Akshara ma'am. Besides, I have no surgeries or OPD lined up."

Abhimanyu offered a small smile in return. However, his tone turned stern as he issued a directive. "Also, no one should be allowed to meet her, Rohan. Apart from Dr. Rohit and our team, not even Dr. Harshvardhan, even if he threatens to destroy your career. I'll take care of him. But in my absence, do not let anyone near her."
