We entered the actual building and Ben handed the VKs off to Doug, i wasn't going to let him do it on his own of course. Ben wanted to stay and finish showing the VKs to their dorms, but soon-to-be-kingly duties couldn't wait.
"I'll see you later, Okay?" Ben stared at Mal as he spoke. "And if there's anything you need feel free to ask—"
"Ask Doug," Audrey interrupted.
"Or me or Ben. Don't ask Audrey she might be a bitch," I sounded sarcastic at my Audrey comment but i wasn't trying to be.
Audrey pulled Ben off and left me and Doug to finish the tour.
"Hi, guys. I'm Dopey's son? As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy and.." he trailed off, staring at Evie, "High-Ho," he mumbled under his breath and I smiled at the boy. It was like love at first sight, well for Doug at least.
"Real smooth, Doug," i muttered to him under my breath and he gave me a 'shut up' look.
"Ok, so these are your standard classes. All of you have Remedial Goodness," i started.
"Guessing that's a new class," Mal commented.
"Yeah, it is, I'm really excited to take it with you guys," I smiled, trying my best to shut down the it's just for the new kids ideas despite them being 100% true.
"Come on guys, let's go find our dorms," Mal said. They all followed behind her as she climbed the stairs that led to many other rooms that didn't include dorms.
"Dorms are the other way, guys. Here, I'll show you." I instructed.
First, I showed the trio of boys to their dorm. They all loved the room. Jay and Carlos were more enthusiastic about it, immediately touching and searching the room. Honestly, i didn't blame them, the guys had much better rooms than the girls.
"This is so cool!" Carlos geeked about the new gaming station.
"I know. I sneak into Ben's room just to use his," i said, picking up the controller. "Want to play a round?" i asked Carlos.
"I don't know how.." he trailed off like he was embarrassed. I gave him a weak smile.
"Don't worry, but i expect a match once you pick it up," i set the controller down and have him a pointed look to which his smile widened.
"Definitely," he told me.
The two girls were leaning against the doorway 'patiently' waiting for me. I say 'patiently' because they weren't outright telling me to hurry up but Mal's tapping foot was a clear enough indication that i should show her and Evie their new room.
As I showed the girls their much less exciting dorm rooms, that was decked in pink and frilly decor, I took a moment to think. I watched the girls take in the room, one with distaste and the other with wide-eyed amazement. Evie seemed to find it much more fascinating than Mal. I think it was the light-ness of it all.
I let my mind wander from the two villain-kids onto other matters. Ben's coronation was coming soon and it was like time wouldn't slow. Ben stepped into kingship at sixteen, but the Kingdom of South Riding had a new king or queen at the age of eighteen. My older brother was seventeen. Meaning as one coronation ended another would be just around the corner. I didn't know if my brother wanted to be king or if he just saw it as another responsibility forced onto him. I was simply the spare in case something were to happen to him. Yet, i found myself aching for the chance to be heard as a queen, rather than just the shadow of my elder brother.
"This place is so amaz–" Evie started, snapping me back into reality.
"gross," Mal finished her sentence.
"I know right. Amazingly gross!" Evie said in a non-convincing tone.
The two girls closed the light pink curtains.
"I know this is a disappointing show from the boys room. I never quite understood why we can be ruled by women but the women can't get better rooms," i stood at the doorway watching the two girls.
"Alright. Well, thanks for the guide. Bye!" Mal quickly shut me out of their room with a fake smile on her face.
"Bye." i said to the door before I headed off to mine. My side of my dorm was decked in purple and blue and touches of yellow. While, my roommate's side was all yellow and green. Tina Bell is the daughter of Tinker Bell and my best friend, well besides Ben. She was lying in bed when i entered our room. I jumped onto her bed upon seeing her, earning a slight giggle from the girl hidden behind her book. "Hi Tina," I said.
"Hey, Ry," She looked up from her book to see me. "How was the tour?"
"Good for the most part, do you know all the VKs parents yet?" i asked.
"Yea, but i'm sure you're going to tell me again." She set down her book.
"Well, duh. Ok so there's Mal, Maleficent's daughter, I know terrifying," i joked as we had never thought Maleficent was all that big and scary.
"The scariest," Tina feigned fearfulness.
"Then Jay, Jafar's son," i continued, "and Carlos Di Vil, Cruela's son, and Evie Queen, who is gorgeous, the daughter of Evil Queen."
"Weren't there five this morning?"
"i'm getting there," i told her, she was seriously testing her patience, as per usual. "Lastly, my mother's sworn enemy, not really but you know i gotta add the dramatic effect," i paused for said dramatic effect, "the son of Mother Gothel, Mattheo. Dun. Dun. Dun."
"Oh my gosh, it's like you've told me this five times already," The sarcasm in her voice clear as the sky on a summers day.
"Ok Tina, no need to be rude, plus you know me too well to not expect me to not remind you." I smiled at her joke and rested my head on her stomach and let her continue her book.
I slipped in my headphones and turned some music on. Lying on Tina's stomach had become a comforting habit, something i did with my
mother and something i missed dearly. As i lied they Tina would play with strands of my hair like my mother does when I'm home in South Riding. We ended up falling asleep like that. Both of us in her little twin bed. We did that a lot over the past few years at Auradon Prep. We found comfort in the sister-like bond we'd formed over the years. It helped with the home sickness. Of course her home being much further, all the way in Neverland, she saw her parents much less. Tinker Bell tried her best to make it to Tina's orchestra concerts and to school social events like Parents day, but she still fell short at times due to distance and scheduling conflicts. My parents tended to make up for it, inviting Tina in and treating her like family but even my parents couldn't be here everytime i needed them.
In fact, that is how me and Tina became so close. Tina and I had been put at a table with a few others that had parents that couldn't make it. And she immediately started talking to me, which was helpful since i didn't really care to talk to anyone else at the table nor did i care to go find Ben as this year, 7th grade, was the year him and Audrey had become 'official'.
Whilst relaxing, I was oblivious to the planning, plotting and scheming going on in the rooms i had just left. Mattheo and the rest of the VKs were on their way to try and steal Fairy Godmothers wand. But i'm not supposed to know that, yet. In our later years one of the five informs me of all the secretive adventures they had before choosing good. Each of these activities i was completely unaware of in the present time.
