W/ MATTHEO:

Evie had just dropped the ever so helpful bomb that we get to go to the coronation where fairy godmothers wand will be. Now we needed to find a way to get up close and personal. I was thinking, plotting, when a knock interrupted my brainstorming.

Mal opened the door and found Ben on the other side. "Hey, Mal." god he was insufferable with how obvious it was that he was into Mal. And he has a girlfriend, i almost feel bad for her. Almost. It's hard to pity someone so unbearable and chemically unbalanced. "I didn't see you guys today, I was just wondering if you had any questions or if there's anything that you need." Ben asked the group of us, but he kept his eyes on Mal.

"Not that I know of," Mal said while looking at the four of us and bid him goodbye. She quickly stopped Ben from leaving, remembering the topic at hand, to ask about the coronation. "Do you think that it's a possibility that the four of us could stand in the front row next to the Fairy Godmother, and," she sucked in a breath of air, "soak up all that goodness?"

"I wish you could. Up there it's just me, my folks, the Fitzherberts, their plus one and my girl-friend." Ben told us.

Eventually, Mal shut the door on him and turned to us. "I think it's time Benny-boo got a new girlfriend." she said, "And i need a love spell."

"We need two," I added, "A plan B. Ryder Fitzherbert is sitting up front if I can become her plus one that's another one of us up there."

"Good thinking, Matt," Mal said, smiling slightly.

That night, after excruciating amounts of looking through Mal's spell book, we had found our spell and were making the cookies to give to Ben and Ryder. Did I feel bad about it? No. Do i wish i didn't have to do this to her? Maybe.

Lonnie, Mulan's daughter, came in looking for Mal about the girls and their hair. Imagine that in a mocking tone, and that's my thought process. I toned them out until Lonnie said chocolate chips, a delicacy i still wasn't used to.

Chocolate was fucking great by the way. How i had gone so long in life without it is a genuine mystery. God, this place is so much nicer than the Isle.

"Didn't your moms ever make you guys chocolate chip cookies?" She started as we gave her an unknowing, almost blank, look. "Like, when you're feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven with a big ole glass of milk and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective and..." she trailed off as she saw our faces.

"We don't get that where we're from," I told her, throwing a tight-lipped smile in her direction.

"Yeah, i know. I just, you know, I thought...Even villains love their kids." Lonnie just doesn't stop. Although in this case, it helped because she shed a tear that Mal quickly brushed from her cheek and threw into the batter, rushing her out of the kitchen.

BACK W/ RYDER:

I walked out of the school building with Ben and Audrey and we headed towards our lockers.

"Do you think they actually paid for those?" Audrey asked.

"Why do you care Audrey? Not like it's your business," I said.

"She did it to Jane's hair, too, and Godmother is not happy about it." She continued, completely ignoring me.

"What's the harm?" Ben asked.

"It's gateway magic!" Aubrey told him. "Sure it started with the hair. Next thing you know it's the lips and the legs and the clothes and then everybody looks good and then where will I be?"

"Still the girlfriend of the soon to be king and the most popular girl in school despite hating on every girl you feel threatened by, I'd guess." I was sick of her antics, to say the least.

"True," she said, again ignoring any of the negatives i just listed, and walked away after bidding Ben goodbye, only Ben. Not like I've known her for literal years.

"Bye, to you too Audrey," i mumbled as she walked away. "Hey, Ben, I'm gonna head out too. See you at the game," I told him as I saw Mattheo at his locker. Ben and I went exactly opposite ways, him to Mal on the left and me to Mattheo on the right.

"Hi, Mattheo" I came up beside him, beaming a bright smile.

"Hello, princess." Mattheo said

"What do you have in your hand there?" I asked as I could see the ziplock bag he was hiding. I could see the dessert. I knew what it was. I wanted it. I loved cookies, my mom was a fantastic baker so hers were the best. But with her in Corona, ruling over South Riding, I didn't see her or her cookies very often.

"Some cookies. Mal made them,"

"Ooo, I love cookies. Can I have one. Please," i said looking up at him innocently. "Cherry on top?"

"Didn't your parents teach you not to take food from villains?" he laughed at my neediness. "That's not your story though, is it? That one's all Snow White,"

"My parents taught me to not take candy from strangers, you a not a stranger nor a villain, so in both cases i'm safe,"

"Fine, here's a cookie, Princess," He laughed slightly at, what he believed to be, my naiveness and handed me the sweet treat, much to my excitement. What can i say, i love cookies.

"Yay! Thank you Matt. So what are you up to today?"

"Tourney. Why don't you eat your cookie, Princess?"

"Alright," I happily took a bite of the chocolate chip cookie. "Mmm. These are good. Compliments to Mal." I swallowed. "Did she put walnuts in them? Gives it a nice crunch." I felt a sudden rush of joy enter my heart and brain as i looked and spoke with Mattheo. "Mattheo, have your eyes always had the little ring of Honey? Right around your iris."

"I guess so, Princess. How are you feeling?" He asked me, placing a hand on my arm which made my heart pound ten times faster. I could hear someone coming up from behind me, but i didn't want to look away from Mattheo to see who. I didn't want to look away from Mattheo.

"I feel...." i trailed off then turned to mush, smiling like a fool, "I feel like i want to hug you," i pulled him into a hug and settled my head against his chest. Slowly i felt his arms wrap around my shoulders. This hug felt safe and warm and right.

But all of it was ruined by a blue haired girl coming from behind me.

"Evie! Hi!" He quickly pulled away.

"Hi Matt, I'm gonna steal Ryder for a minute. Is that alright, Ryder?" Evie asked me and i nodded, but i didn't want to leave Mattheo.

"We need to get you ready for the game, ok?" i nodded and followed Evie to her room after waving goodbye to Mattheo with a bright smile on my face.
