Chapter 8

Sage POV

What happens after the breakup?

After a breakup, where are we?

At what stage are we?

Because many things change especially in ourselves, it changes us so much that we don't realize it affects who we are.

My vacation here was extended due to Nate's request. We've been hanging out for a while now and I guess it's getting comfortable. He's not bad

"Sage, I am sorry for what happened. But I promise you that you can still do what you want kahit kasal ka sakin." he said assuring me

"I'm just lending some help Nate, shrug it off." I said but I noticed how his face suddenly got sad or was I just overthinking

"Right," he said smiling a little

We decided to do a civil wedding to make our marriage legal.

At first, I didn't want to agree, it is not something we should rush about. Eventually, I saw how persistent Nate is, in making things work between us. He wanted to be by my side and to heal with him.

It looks like I am using him to heal from my pain, but he is assuring me that he is okay with whatever our situation looks like.

Besides we are doing this to make Maxine stop chasing him.

We are in a situation where we have a different agenda hoping that we won't each other along the process.

"May I hold your hand, Sage?" he asked when we were in front of the city hall.

I nodded and offered my hand. Our wedding will be the start of our lives being changed. It is a commitment to make a difference in each other's lives.

From this day on I will no longer be the woman I am in yesterday's story.

I choose to take a risk and work things out with Nate.

FAST FORWARD

Naalimpungatan ako nung may narinig akong kumakatok sa pintuan ko. Kaya dahan dahan akong bumangon para pagbuksan siya ng pinto.

"Sage? Are you awake?" I heard Nate's voice outside my room

Kaya binuksan ko na ang pintuan ko.

"Oh, I'm sorry for waking you up." He said at alanganin pang ngumiti

"Yayain lang sana kita mag breakfast.'' He continued

He's been like that for a month na. This guy never skips a day na yayain ako magbreakfast. It's been his routine since we got here in Baguio. Nalaman ko din na he is just doing business in Batanes kaya siya nandoon.

"Okay, I'll just wash up and baba na din ako after." I said and opened the door widely. So, he could enter because sometimes he would wait for me, or he just wanted to look around my room.

But this time he just nodded saka umalis.

That's new, anong nangyare sa lalaking yun. Sabi ko nung makaalis na siya.

Umiling na lamang ako saka pumasok sa bathroom para makapaghilamos at makapagsipilyo. Pagkatapos ay inayos ko ang buhok ko bago bumaba.

''Good morning, Nate.'' I greeted him before sitting since we didn't greet each other properly a while ago.

Lumingon siya sakin saka ngumiti bago ilapag iyong coffee sa harap ko.

"Good morning, kain na tayo." He said bago umupo across from where I'm sitting right now.

Before eating we said our grace. Also, to start our day positively.

"It's Saturday Sage, do you have a plan for today?" he asked

Nagisip muna ako kung may gagawin ako pero sa tingin ko naman ay wala. So, I looked at him and shook my head.

Saturday and Sunday are our days off from work. We decided to be that way to know each other even more. We take turns on planning but this week, we haven't talked about what we will do today.

"Date tayo?" He said after niyang uminom ng kape

"Okay." I said instantly hindi na ako nagtanong pa kung saan kami pupunta because he is an adventurous person.

Which I find okay because I can go to different places. He surprises me often. 

With him, I choose to discover different things. To explore activities that a couple should do.
