HALLELUJAH!! I FIGURED OUT CHAPTER 12!! ENJOY!!
Sophie's POV:
From the moment I woke up this morning, I could sense that something was different. The sun's rays filtering through my window seemed to carry a special kind of warmth, and the birds chirping outside sang a melody that seemed to be tailor-made for the day ahead. As I got out of bed, I felt a sense of excitement bubbling within me, a feeling that I couldn't quite pinpoint but one that made me eager to see what the day held in store.
I hurriedly got dressed, my mind racing with possibilities. Keefe had mentioned that he had something special planned for me today, something that he knew I would love. The thought of spending the day with him, indulging in activities, filled me with an anticipatory thrill. I couldn't help but wonder what surprises he had up his sleeve, what adventures awaited us.
But first before the excitement could begin, I had a checkup this morning, to see progress on how the disease is doing. Most of time I leave these types of appointments with the news that it's just the same, this time felt a little different though, knowing that I had limited time left. I hated the thought of that.
I just hoped the results of the appointment wouldn't dampen our moods and ruin this beautiful day Keefe had planned. It could very well cast a shadow over us, but maybe the day could lift our spirits back up again.
Brushing out the wild bird's nest of bed hair, trying to get it decent. I finish it by pulling it into a ponytail, simple yet beautiful at the same time.
While I was putting on my shoes, curiosity struck me. What could Keefe have planned for today? I knew we were going to do some of my favorite things, but he hadn't given me any specifics. With so many things I love doing, it was impossible to narrow it down. Who knows how many adventures we might embark on today?
I grabbed my favorite book and headed downstairs, trying to distract myself from the growing curiosity. My heart skipped a beat when I heard the familiar knock on the door. I opened it to find Keefe standing there, a wide grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
"Ready for the best day ever, Foster?" he asked, his voice brimming with excitement.
I nodded eagerly, my curiosity reaching its peak. "What do you have planned, Keefe?"
He winked, taking my hand. "You'll see. Just trust me." I sighed, "Alright, let's go to my appointment and then we could embark on what you got planned for today." I told him.
We walked down and outside to Keefe's car. Edaline had told me she would meet us there, while Grady couldn't make it today because one of the animals at the shelter was having problems, and he was called in to help. Verdi was really difficult to handle, but it wasn't a big deal to me since this was just a routine checkup.
As we made it outside, Keefe opened the passenger door for me with a flourish. "Your chariot, m'lady," he said with a wink, holding out his hand. I chuckled at his antics. "Why thank you, good sir," I replied in a silly accent. Taking his hand, I slid into the car. After closing my door, he headed to the driver's side and hopped in.
The drive to the appointment felt joyful and calm, with a good vibe too, as Keefe played all of my favorite songs. I enjoyed every minute of it. When we arrived at the clinic, Edaline was waiting just outside for us. We entered and checked in, then waited for my name to be called. While we waited, Keefe and I played a spirited game of Roshambo (Rock Paper Scissors).
When my name was called, I followed a nurse into one of the patient rooms. The nurse conducted the usual checkup, and then Dr. Vacker came in to do his assessment. As expected, he informed me that my condition had not worsened, but it also hadn't improved. This was no surprise to me, as I knew that my only hope for recovery was to receive the cure I was anxiously waiting for. Which they are trying the best of their ability to get, these types of things are very unpredictable, and we can only hope for the best.
