My mother died shortly after she gave birth to me. Although, father didn't resent me one bit. What he hated was weak people, people that didn't strive to be better, climb to the top.
So he didn't care about my mother, their marriage was arranged anyway. Speaking about arranged, look where I am now.
"Sohee, you've come of age now and we've set you up with a husband."
Father walks closer to me and grabs both shoulders staring me in the eyes,
"You're doing this for the family and business, best to discard your own feelings like a real Kim."
"Yes father."
I keep my head high. I can't disappoint him.
"Long black hair and a pretty face... You take after your mother's beauty. Thank goodness you actually have talent and smarts unlike her. You're useful, let's keep it that way. Give birth to a healthy successor and do your job."
He pats me one last time on my shoulder, then leaves his office.
I scoff.
Family, business? My ass. I nearly have flaws, I strive to be his favourite yet he still treats me- his own daughter like a tool for his own gain.
I place my hand on the windows of his office. It's on the highest floor, a clear glass wall window. The room is grey, no colour, as he is a minimalist that removes any flaw that bugs him.
How boring. What I personally think isn't boring... Is love. Romance novels and dramas keep me entertained to think that there's still hope in this colourless world I live in.
But sadly, love doesn't exist in this dull world of mine. I can keep hoping but trivial matters like dreaming of love is a flaw that needs to be removed.
It is a new day starting from now on.
