Chapter 1. The bomb

August 6, Hiroshima, my hometown, 8:15. I woke up as if nothing had happened. I opened the window to see what was happening to the inhabitants of our city. Then everyone started running and screaming. I was shocked. I went downstairs to the kitchen. I saw my mother making breakfast, but she was doing it so terribly quickly...
I asked: What happened to make people from the city scream and run away?
-An atomic bomb fell on us. I don't know if we will survive this, she said.
-Oh no. Who did this atrocity?
-Hana. You know who. It's obvious.
-Chinese?
-They didn't throw the bomb...- my mother paused for a moment.
- So who did it?!
-... It was thrown out by the Americans...
-Oh no! We're going to die, I panicked
After a minute we fainted. I fell on my leg, that's all I remember. After an hour I woke up and looked around. Instead of houses there were rubble. I tried to get up, but my leg hurt. I turned around and saw my mother. I screamed at the top of my lungs: Mom?! Are you alive?! And then my mother woke up and said: It's a miracle! We survived a disaster!
-But these people weren't as lucky as us, I said, pointing to the dead bodies.
-Get up, Hana
-I can't. My leg hurts.
-I'll give you my hand and we'll go to the hospital.
I got up. Mom and I walked to the hospital on the outskirts of Hiroshima. We reached the hospital. There were also injured and burnt people in the hospital. The doctor said our name. We followed him into his office. The doctor looked at me first and after a while he said: Everything is fine with her. Broken leg after a fall and minor wounds on the body, but it's not that bad. He gave me a cast and a crutch. Then he moved on to my mother. And he said with a smile: Please don't worry. These are only superficial wounds. It's not life-threatening. We thanked the doctor and left the building. We decided to stay in the suburbs. It was very beautiful there
